I guess part of the reason why I don't care for it anymore is because of the people I associate it with. I've met many many negative and stuck up people who had this Drum & Bass or die mentality (minus a select and special few who are opposite of that). But that's just my personal view of the sound. I appreciate and respect the fact that it's widely accepted and enjoyed by many many people, it's just not my thing. And no I'm not using my view to state that promoters book a lot of it, it's based on my observation of lineups and flyers.

Nah you nailed it, i was just referring to the tastes of the underground crowd and stuff.. no doubt you def got a lot more experience and insight on it tho

Talkin bout mainstream, My 'clubbing' days (mostly Zero Gravity cuz im not even 21 yet) are long gone but but all I would hear was mainstream house and cheesy trance/dance singles. Its kinda sad that a lot people just hear that stuff and think thats all there is to EDM, they dont even know stuff like DnB exists Techno stereotypes are like almost as bad as raver stereotypes
(Grew up in naperville, unfortunately some kids are ignorant about much more than music)

Kinda wish people would open up to it, but at the same time i like that underground stuff is well.. underground.

however just keep in mind this event will be 2 big rooms and you can drift from one room to the other entirely up to your whim and liking and check out the different genres. With 12 hours and 2 rooms of dj's there's plenty for everyone - house, hardcore, trance etc

here's a facebook link for people who like to connect up that way (I'm new 2 facebook but hey)..... [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

did i mention this place is big? and clean? this isn't a squat with loose rafters and dangling cables. It's a proper warehouse sized space and we've worked it all out and we're going all NIGHT
Exactly what Geist said... There will be alot of styles of music at this event.. Plus, from my knowledge there isn't one DnB dj on the bill that plays the same type. It's all different sub-genres like tech-step DnB, oldschool Jungle, smooth-steppin, ect..

Plus, the venue alone is worth a trip to this event. This is by far one of the best venue locations around!!! But don't take my word for it, come see for yourself...

I'm proud to say I've never been to Zero Gravity. I tried going to Galaxy Club once but was denied entry because I was wearing phat pants (circa 1999).

Anyway, what I wanted to point out was although Trance is a great style of electronic music, the mainstream has put the genre, mostly the bouncier side of it, on such a high pedestal, it has become extremely hard for any of the underground genres to rise to more popular heights. Because of this, we see more of the PVDs and Tiestos touring the world and aquiring audiences that exceed numbers that topple whole events in some areas. I've met many people who got into electronic music by way of Trance. Though this is not a bad thing, I really wish more underground genres/subgenres were showcased to the mainstream. I believe that would eliminate the people who have views on some genres based on what they're told and not what they've heard. This would also help the smaller based genres to gain more of a fanbase.

yeah dnb is really big in champaign-urbana. probably the 2nd most active EDM scene here is organized around dnb so the local flavor is represented. the first most active might be the house music scene from the swanky bars... and that's represented too
