Wow.
Some one posted this in the San Francisco forum and I read the whole thing and went to the website. This honestly looks like the best thing the US has to offer yet. Waaaaay better(and more inexpensive) then EDC out here, better and cheaper than Ultra, and most like larger than any festival to date. You guys are lucky...for this at least. It is a shame people in SoCal and Norcal are so stuck in their region and have their blinders on. The scene is more than the region you are in and I am glad to see the mid-west bringing all this talent out. I'm a huge raver in Cali, But I have family in Minnesota so if i'm ever out there in the future i'll try and make it to anything from a house party/renegade/underground to a festival like this. As for next year, I hope this is going off again for such a great price, and i hope it is right before Love Parade in Germany. Going to this for the weekend and then flying across the ocean to Germany for an EDM/culture festival with 1.5 million people would make my life. Props to everyone who helped put this together and hope you all have a blast! ![]() P.S. after reading through this whole thread, you guys should put your drama and bullshit aside. Shit happens. Try and remember what it is all about. Not the money, not how much a crew comes out with, but the people that you are trying to bring in and resurrect the scene with. It's about the people and the music. That being said, even HALF of those DJs would be worth 100 dollars IMO. and yet right now it is still only 50. I don't see why anyone in the midwest wouldn't get work off for that weekend, pay 50 for the ticket and maybe 75 for a shuttle or carpool with friends. In SoCal, that would cost 150+ for earliest pre-sales. Last edited by Klover; 11.5.2008 at 11:40 pm. Reason: automerged doublepost |

Won't be naked too much (except during any fire hugs I get, and maybe if I gots poi by then when spinning fire {fire+bare skin=LOVE}). But I'll be close enough to it to count.
Just to get back on track away from dramaness. |

tottally agree seriously doubt that. sounds like you have some hangups with the cali scene, and starving for some less commercial stuff. nobodys scene is perfect, but my point to all this is.....cali is the shit ;p, but u've probably been to one too many cali parties and got burnt out on it, which is understandable. |

i duno about that argument, thats why i used the word different instead of better. some of these locals on the memf flyer could be better than half the edc lineup for all we know.
for instance: PVD is one of the most boring djs i've ever seen. i'd rather see alot of ppl on the memf flyer than him. however: i'd take glitch mob over anyone on the memf flyer, hell u couldn't pay me to not see the glitch mob. fyi: i'm most likely not even goin to memf(low on $$, also not many djs i wanna see), jus my observations. lmao....when you type in P V D ravelinks recognizes it as paulvandyk, thats rich. |

I know the cali scene is awesome, and i personally never bitch about prices.
i just think MEMF has a great production especially with the vast amount of genres being spun, especially at only 50 dollars(now) for three days with all the things it has to offer. the one thing i *Hate* about the SoCal scene is the amount of people there that have blinders on, like my good friend alex. just because they do not know the Djs, and they haven't heard of the international headliners, does not mean its a shitty event. they just skip over the DJ info and the stuff they've produced and the events they've played at. I travel back and forth from SF and LA and just in that distance you get people who think "nah SoCal is better than Norcal...i dont know any of those DJs" so you can imagine what people would say about this. its weird....they're afraid of DJs they haven't heard of or something. even if i knew absolutely NO ONE spinning at MEMF i would think its great, because in 300+ DJs you are bound to find tons of stages that are bumpin(if people show up) and meet a lot of DJs+crew. i think it is great that they are taking this risk in order to make the scene larger. I hope it is a success, because if all goes well i could go next year. ![]() |
