I just got an e-mail saying the MIA crew wont be setting up a stage or performing due to some budget issue with the promoter... Not somethin i like to hear

Anyone know what the deal is? Or if anyone is trying to resolve it..

MEMF is going to be one of two things. Either pure amazingness and hope for the reserection of the Chicago rave scene, or epic failure with 200 people in a venue meant for 20,000.

I find it interesting how a 3 day event with 300dj's doesnt have a location posted on ravelinks.

What I'm about to say is not a rant so please don't think of it as one.

I went and checked out the venue when we were still getting the aggrements for the place taken care of and the owner did say that the place can max out around 50 thousand or something like that. I'm not going to run my mouth and say that we're going to fill the place cause 1) there is no god, 2) with this lineup that is impossible around here. We just got a huge place to throw an event. I don't think my promoter had intentions of filling the place to capacity to begin with, otherwise the lineup would have a lot more bigger names and a lot less stages. Not to mention this is the midwest and a 50,000 person event would take a lot more than just what we're doing. Electric Daisy Carnival in SoCal that same weekend will probably draw around that many. But SoCal has a scene the size of the entire midwest times about 4. HUGE scene out there. Instead of worrying about how many people are going to show, why not just find a handful of performers on the flyer you want to go see and go see them and have fun?

So there was an agreement that you would get money up front? That's weird considering nobody else, myself included, got that kind of agreement for this. Me & several other DT members are still putting in money for our stage.

thats fine if you want to risk your own money when the promoter is charging alot of money at the door that can easily pay for your stage, Weve put our money up like that plenty of times and its very cool of you, but we cant do it on a high profile event like this... its just not fair we have to spend our own hard earned money and none of us are rich, most are blue collar working people, while the promoter stands to make 1000's. We would rather put our own money into our own events. at least if we loose money it our own faults.
