It's not at all a dance party; more of a picnic according to the site, but its still a good opportunity to hear a very important act in Chicago's techno scene. Here's what the website says:
__________________________________________________ ___________________ Lounge on the Great Lawn and soak up sounds from the Jay Pritzker Pavilion's one-of-a-kind sound system. Bring a picnic, games, friends, and family to play, chat, stretch, eat and drink. Electronic music artists, local record label heads, music historians, expert DJs, record store impresarios, and a few surprise guests provide the sonic backdrop. This week: Electronica @ Dusk (June 9th, 6-9pm) Featuring Telefon Tel Aviv, Kate Simko, Miles Tilmann Ambient sounds, downtempo, and minimal techno provide the backdrop for early evening relaxation with some of the brightest electronic musicians in the world, who are based in Chicago. Formed in 1999 by Charles Cooper and Joshua Eustis, Telefon Tel Aviv is a Chicago-based electronic-music group known for its work on Hefty Records and remixes of anyone from Bebel Gilberto to Nine Inch Nails. Drawing inspiration from the diverse influences of the rave music of the early 90s, industrial, even classic rock, Miles Tilmann composes his music by utilizing instruments including keyboards, computers, record players & tape machines. Riding the buzz of recent rave reviews and international acclaim, Kate Simko is an electronic music producer whose music has roots in Chicago house and Detroit techno. __________________________________________________ ___________________ I'll be there getting drunk with my girls, anyone else going? |

I'm just saying that because its being advertised as a picnic, so I'm not wanting to disappoint kids who are expecting 100+ people all dancing like at those other free downtown shows a couple years ago. I for one shall be dancing my skinny ass off.

No flyer (that i've found yet); this is just part of series of free out door picnic things at millenium park... I'm so bummed with yet another summer without summerdance every week, so at least this will be kind of similar..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hahaha, there was no dancing and I wasn't gunna be the only one.... interesting time though; I'd say it was a well spent monday evening. Last few tracks telefon played were awesome. Last edited by Mattie-Z; 10.6.2008 at 1:28 am.. Reason: automerged doublepost |
I bounced when Kate Simko got a little bit to housey for my taste. Miles Tilmann was excellent though, totally surreal hearing stuff like that in that kind of atmosphere on a sound system with near perfect acoustics.
I had a pretty good time though, people didn't dance, but it was really enjoyable. |
