Equipment provided.

two technics turntables
a standard 2 channel battle style mixer
serato box and 4 colored discs
cartridges will be provided but DJs are welcome to use their own
we will have extra headphones on hand just incase

SCORING SYSTEM:

PRELIMS:
1. Every song recognizably played in 4 minutes will be worth 3 points each.
2. Contestants will be judged on 5 additional categories each worth up to 5 points.
a. Technique - (did the DJ exhibit confident control of equipment and fluid mixing skills)
b. Selection - (did the DJ choose a creative or unique selection of songs or did they copy yesterday's rush hour radio mix)
c. Difficulty - (did the DJ mix genres and tempos or did every song already have the same BPM)
d. Tricks and Showmanship - (DJ the DJ rock strobe and orbital scratches in a bunny suit with lobster claw gloves on, while eating nachos out of a cheese dip hat)
e. Execution - (did the DJ execute their 4 minute mix without audible mistakes)
3. Each judge will turn in a score card for each DJ. The average of judge score cards plus the points for number of songs played will represent the DJs final score.

FINALS:
1. The finals will be scored exactly the same as the prelims with one exception. We will have a decibel meter on hand and at the end of the finals the audience will get to participate in helping select the winners. Each of the top 6 will be called up and by SPL meter crowd response will be measured. The highest scoring DJ will get 6 bonus points, the second highest will get 5 bonus points, third will get 4 bonus points and so forth.


RULES:

1. Vinyl or Vinyl controlled serato ONLY.
a. Serato users will be required to switch control vinyl for every song in order to provide a fair handicap for vinyl users. 4 colored discs will be provided
b. Serato users are allowed to use their own computer but can not use internal control mode. A computer will be available if you prefer to just bring a jump drive.
c. Serato users can not use program tricks. (no 100 clicks, no djAM mode, no auto lock, no keyboard cheat pads etc.)

2. You have 4 minutes. Make them the hottest 4 minutes of your life! ANY GENRE GOES! BE CREATIVE!

3. HAVE FUN! GET SOME FREE STUFF! NETWORK! MAKE FRIENDS!
