The only thing I would add is the reason for not posting the info on a public forum is definetly not because the producers don't want ravers at this event, or to keep it exclusive. The reason is becuase it is safer to have private party. If this party would have been a public event they would have needed special event permits along with other things. If someone questioned things it would be hard to explain why a private event was posted on a public forum. So, it is just to keep things better. It is not because they are elitest or not wanting ravers to go. I believe this is the reason, because when I threw a party I had a 'private party' to avoid the hassel of getting permits and to make it more free enviorment.

lol just because you didn't tell anyone about an event doesnt make it legal to throw an entertainment event at a non-licensed venue, especailly if you are charging at the door. I'm rpretty sure its more "tribe orientated" and they like to keep it like that. Its just how they do it... just like most raves have info lines that people call the day of the rave... just traditions that are kept up.

I felt I had to register just because of the huge amount of idiocy in this thread.
I was involved with Resonate personally, helped a lot with setup, and have helped/been to many events like this in Chicago before. While some burners are ravers, most ravers are NOT burners. It's not about some elitest bullshit you guys are all whining about - however it is about being exclusive - it has to do with a certain maturity level and a family community. Simply put - if you're part of that family community, you're welcome there because they know you'll respect the space, art, and environment. If you knew someone or knew someone who knew someone in the community, then you were welcome too, because the people inviting you would have the faith that you can respect that. It had nothing to do with legality or capacity. And it's not about 'elite' ravers either. THIS WAS NOT A FUCKING RAVE These kinds of events are fundraisers for artistic communities mainly tied to burning man. If you didn't know someone who could tell you where the party was at then you really didn't need to be there. Seismic, stop trying to piggyback off of this and talk up how much more awesome and open you are. Truth is, this party had nothing to do with the rave scene, it's an entirely different scene. You go throw your parties and have fun and good luck but it's comparing apples to oranges. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a raver too, always will be. But seriously the general maturity/responsibility level of ravers is laughable. They wanted to keep that kind of crowd at a minimum so they wouldn't have to keep an eye on everything and could actually ENJOY the event they spent the last year preparing for. This was not the next big party to go get trashed at, there was a purpose to it. And if you didn't/still don't know the purpose, then we're all glad you didn't make it there. |

This PARTY (not a rave at allllllll) was the shit. Like other people have said, I haven't seen anything like this in Chicago in a while.
I was taking pictures the whole night, if you were there maybe you got a card with the URL. If not, check em out at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Use of images for personal use is fine, as long as the images are not cropped or modified in any way. -Caroline |

Wow, after looking at those pictures I completely understand why you wouldn't post this information on public forms, especially RL. I could easily see randoms who are too drugged out ruining that art.
A party like that really appeals to me and I'm sure it does to a lot of other mature ravers out there. It seems tough for outsiders to get in on these events if they don't know the right people. That sucks for people like me who aren't from Chicago and only source for chicago parties is RL. If anyone's willing to share a link to another forum where I can hear about these type of parties, PM me because I know a good group of people here in Madison that would drive down for it. |

That massive out of scene promotions statement was in response to someone else bitching about the parties in OUR scene getting smaller and smaller - Quit thinking everything is about you. Way to really uphold the values of the community you are a part of there buddy. You know all being a dick to me for no reason. Maybe you should give up the pot for a while so you can comprehend the things you read better and offer a more valid response. |

LOUD NOISES
adopted from the late great genius: Get out there and get [plur], think [plur], live [plur], and breathe [plur], and you'll get it as soon as you like. *Raises glass for intelligence and maturity, and most certainly tolerance* Burners: 1 Ravers: 0 |

If you're so tolerant than why do you make burners seem like such an exclusive group and so much better than ravers? I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, but I'm just pointing out the inconsistencies with your logic here. Whatever. I don't really see these as mutually exclusive groups. It would be nice to see the two scenes (if you want to call it that) get together on more parties. |
