yeah, as far as i know, source isn't throwing the kickback 3 party so they probably don't really care too much that it's on the same date... another one of those weekends where people just have to decide which party they want to go to if they can't go to both! that's life for ya

im just saying and its probably not that good for either party cause then they will get less people and the people that go to the other party could have been money for the other one if there was only one party on that night...so having two parties on the same night and them being differnt production companies sucks for them

that's why one is far away and is a large party in scale, and the other is much closer and is a smaller party in scale. it gives people a choice to either go here, or go there. One party has this kind of vibe, and the other has a different kind of vibe. people have a choice to go see different kind of stuff that night. we're not aiming at the same crowd. it's good this way cuz like i said, you have a choice. oterwise there'd be only one or two things to do that night and that doesn't give people much of a choice. it's halloween you know? there should be hella shit to hit up that night, and we're just one of them

DRC

D R C San Franciscos legendary pioneer DJ DRC continues to take the Electronic Music Industry by storm. With her new release The Rhythm with Mike Giannini on Knob Records coming out soon and a list of releases on IMIX, Vision Music, Off World, Merge, Twin Soul, sfhousemusic.com, ingrooves.com and her own label Undefined Musik, you know shes been hard at work in the studio over the years. You can also find DRCs original music featured in two movies, Vision of Vibe with Carl Cox and Intellect featuring Paul Van Dyk and many others. DRC is currently working with DJ Denise on some new powerful dance tracks. She is also hard at work on a full album with Chris Demetras under the name Ars Nova. This album will feature a lot more of DRCs vocals and song writing talents. Youll even hear her playing the base guitar on some of these new tracks. With all this under her belt and more, it is obvious DRC has her finger on the pulse of this fast pace music industry. DRC has performed alongside many of the worlds best including, Dj Dan, Judge Jules, Derek May, Adam Freeland, Donald Glaude, Dj Heather, Roy Davis Jr. and many others. Her exceptional abilities behind the decks have taken her all over the United States, Canada, Germany, Holland, and Eastern Europe. Her unmatched mixing skills on the decks and high voltage performances keep her in great demand as she continues to set new standards in our megaton Dance Culture. DRC strives to interpret the diversity of our world through her music. It is hard to believe that such groundbreaking talent was spawned in a small town, in a state famous for its potatoes. Raised near the Nez Perce Native American Reservation in Idaho, performing in Arabian horse shows and acting and singing in many local theater productions exposed DRC to an ore of music and dance at a young age. To experience the captivating energy DRC harnesses in her performances will forever change the way you hear and feel music. DRC is one of Americas most inspiring and talented DJs. She is a true artist and should not to be missed.

I agree, cheerbear. You all are idiots. Not you guys specifically, but the promoters in Chicago in general. The scene might not be dead, but it's really, REALLY small compared to back in the day. There just aren't nearly enough people to support two parties in a weekend, so if you throw two, then AT BEST, you end up with two parties where people are saying:

"This would be so awesome, if there were a few more people here."

Look, I know that days like Halloween and labor day weekend are really tempting days to throw parties, but the problem is that EVERYONE throws parties then. Like those kids that tried to pull off a massive up in Wisconsin when heavy hitters like Tiesto and Deep Dish were throwing down on Northerly Island. Was anyone SURPRISED that turn out was light at family reunion and (I assume) PureNation was filled with only lincoln park yuppies and underage kids that couldn't get up to Wisconsin?

Yea yea, it's great that you provide something for people that can't drive an hour and a half. And sure, you can say that, "Well, some people prefer deep house to progressive house" or some thing. The point is that the scene in Chicago ISN'T BIG enough to support that much divisiveness.

Look, are you throwing parties because you want to feel important, or are you throwing parties because you love the scene, and you want to make it kick ass pounding bass 5000 Watt laser system awesome? Because the way to do THAT is to TALK with other promoters, COOPERATE in scheduling, COLLABORATE on parties, SUPPORT each other, FLYER for each other, and throw together parties that really MEAN something.

Don't give the kids a dozen crappy parties for them to go and do drugs and try desparately to have a good time. Bring ALL the folks together. Put some fucking EFFORT into layout and visuals. Take some PRIDE in your work so that when you look around in the hour before the doors open, your skin starts to tingle and you just KNOW it's going to be special.

It ain't about "House" music, or "Trance" music, or ecstacy, or looking good, or hooking up, or showing off your moves or any of that bullshit. The Rave scene is about a bunch of people coming together in a forest of music and friends and bringing your energy and vibe to share, and dancing your hardest cause you know everyone else is too, and meeting new people, and loving them all just for being there, and giving all praise to the music, and god, and the promoters for proving that magic can be touched and felt. And you can't HAVE that when people are throwing half assed parties, and competing with each other, and focusing on "How can we make OUR party different so that people will come to it," instead of "How can we make a party that will forever be someone's favorite memory?"

And please, don't give me that bullshit about, "We had it on our calendar for months." And what, you thought that maybe the Saturday before Halloween there WOULDN'T be a dozen other parties going on? I mean, a dozen other parties aside from the normal bar/club/concert extravaganzas that ALWAYS happen around that time of year.

If you want the scene to survive, you gotta work together. Don't throw more parties, throw fewer, but make them GOOD, and the people WILL come.
