Yeah, I got my folder of rave flyers down from the attic about two months ago. Now, I look at it all the time... I'm thinking of creating a small website dedicated to old school Chicago flyers. Here's why,
I wouldn't want the scene to miss out on the whole flyer part of raving. Rave flyers are pieces of art themselves along with informative pieces. As dankdank mentions, he used to put them up all over his bedroom walls. I did the same thing, as did many others. "A good party" is a special experience and the flyer connects you with that experience even years down the road. Kind of like a memento from a trip. Maybe, literally just that. I would be upset to think that some new rave kid has some lousy flyers to put up. Or, none at all. It's cool putting up only online flyers, but printing out good flyers a couple months in advance is the way to hold a great rave or massive. I was out in LA a couple months ago, and they still got the whole rave flyer thing going on. So does San Fran. Let's get it here in Chi-town. At the website people will be able to view some past generation flyers and see what they want to bring to the new. Or, at least they can be viewed as great art pieces. I'm going to get my production company to get started on this project. Let me know what you think. Peace... |

This was definitely my favorite rave of the 'old days'...3 day campout in may in the hills of a ski lodge in wisconsin...like 7 hours from chicago...probably 5000-7000 people there...3 huge tents, lazers over the ceiling of the valleys, nonstop tunes, great ppl and atmosphere, lots of unity, just a thorough experience
![]() By the way, the scene in Chicago used to do the flyer thing, until the hammer came down from Daley and Co. about the whole laws (the real reason raves were scarce for so long)... as far as distributing them now? I don't know if Chicago's the best town for that...used to be you could go to any good record shop and look for atp, mushgroove, pure, vibealive logos on the flyers and know you were gonna have a good night... now all the flyers look cool but then you see they are just smart bar or zentra (no offense to either place)...I agree that palpable flyer art is sweet and a good memento, but maybe internet is more stealth? who knows... ![]() |

There is, or at least used to be - some old old movies of like jujubeats and old massives on the movie forums, they're probably buried by now but they're amazing

This was the last rave I went to, up until a party in LA last November. I knew Threejay from school, and he used to update me during class. He threw this party.
