I'm a 17 year old guy in Orland Park that wants to go to a rave before I leave for college in the fall. Thing is, as much as this seems unusual, is it okay to go if your gay? Just wondering, don't want to be lynched or something. Oh and, what are the chances of being arrested? Not that I have drugs on me, but I don't trust cops.
Yeah, I'm kind of retarded for asking such unusual questions. I'm too much of a nerd, and figure I should go out and make some friends. ![]() |

damn lotta new people lately, yea ur questions are kinda common sense, but better safe than sorry i suppose
1. i know plenty of gay people at parties, and they rock. the scene is all about acceptance of differences, or atleast its supposed to be. 2. u cant be arrested for just being at a rave, most parties are 17 or 18+ [insert some ha-ha jokes here] its a lazy night 4 me. |

Actually, in Racine a few years back, some 400 people were given tickets for being at a rave. I think the ACLU got involved, and all of the tickets were later dropped. |

And another question, I will probably be driving to these events since I'm in the south suburbs, and most are on the north side, which I know has some parking issues. So, is it possible to find parking? Oh, and Thanks for the advice too. |

i am a lawyer, and i say fuck the police
u shouldn't have a problem parking at any event cause a. promoters should/usually take this into account b. most chicago parties aren't that big anyways ![]() |

I don't know; I had read a newspaper article about it... Apparently, the tickets were for association with illegal drug use, but they were later dropped because after the court was flooded with all the people contesting the tickets, they decided that they couldn't prove that everyone there had absolute knowledge that there was illegal drug use going on. That, and some attorneys were ripping on the police for issuing tickets to the party-goers instead of the people responsible for organizing and hosting the event...

Raves are 100% LEGAL. Check the first admendment in the bill of rights. We have the right to peacfully assemble and no restrictions or limitations shal be placed on this. I have had to deal with the cops outside of many of our partys, and the first thing they ask is if we have a permit for what we are doing; this is a trick question (see above). The only "legal" thing thay can do is write the promoters for sound violations, but if the event is held in an industral area, all they can do is ask to turn it down. Raves getting raided goes back to the time when people would break into a wherehouse, hence trasspassing. Now days, we legally rent venues, and have security. I don't think I have ever been to an event that the cops have not showen up at. If promoters are doing their job at the FOH and keeping control of their event, everything flows smooth.
