Well you don't have to worry about that anymore because after last weekend Infared is no more. If I knew things were going to take place the way they did, we would have done our stage as its own event (We being Distorted Trauma; not Infared). The people involved with our stage (mostly Distorted Trauma crew and not Infared aside from a few of the DJs) put a shitload of time and effort into our stage. I was very disappointed in the way things were handled during preparation and at the door. My big concern now is for the DJs who were with Infared and what happens to them now.

My feeling is this, it's up to a dj (especially a local with no management) to go out and try everything they can do to promote themselves. For the most part the Dj's representing infared had absolutely no fucking clue what was going on and were kept out of the blue (I'm not sure if this was intentional or not), and memf should not be a deciding factor for those who are contimplating dropping out of the scene completely....JERRY DON'T EVEN FUCKING THINK ABOUT IT SERIOUSLY. I treated this as just another gig, and thats what it was.

The rave scene in the midwest is in shambles, as it's been ever since I got into it (2004). Promoters are still looking to the past for inspiration but ignoring the fact that the past is what it is....the past. Essentially this is what I feel would be a good starting point (yes, the midwest is still on square one) for rebuilding what has been toppled. There is a complete lack of free partys. The beautiful thing about a free party is that no one can really bitch or moan about the cost, the decor, who's playing, etc. etc. because its fucking free. Also more people are inclined to go just because of the fact that it's free and there's nothing better to do. Lately in Chicago there have been a lot of these free hipster electro loft parties that are consistently packed with 500-700 kids just getting down, and the reason these kids are there?????? BECAUSE ITS FUCKING FREE. I'm not big into the kinda music that goes on at these parties but the way they are thrown is super low cost because these kids just help each other out with sound, lights, etc. all just so that those who go can have a good time.

Nah, not saying that infared was the life source of the scene, I'm just talking about some ideas to gain a better following for everything we love .


You guys are doing some massive things, especially with these headliners your bringin out, I've rarely been disappointed by a source party. I just wish you'd throw parties more often though, lol.

Actually mate, when you put it like that, I can see your point. If this *had* been a joint effort between everyone involved then I stand by what I said, but if he wanted to run the whole thing himself, and take all the potential profits himself (LOL!) then its not a DIY scene, its business and he should expect to sign peoples contracts and pay peoples fees, and have deep enough pockets to do so.

We would love to but we some old folk. We do the best we can for our age. We just let our event speak for us and we hope people see it and catch on.

hmm lets see.... make a demo. pass it out.. like every other dj in the world, if your good and have longevity then you will play parties/clubs.... but dont count on being a huge rave dj.. the last rave djs left are people like danny the wildchild, phantom, odi, freaky flow etc. the rest of us have a lot of work a head of us.

but if you swing from promoters nutt sack and thats the only reason you get booked.... well good luck with only 3 -4 rave promoters in chicago and like 90 djs willing to play for free, pick up djs, work the door, sell water, pass out flyers etc... well id say promote your self and get your mixes out till the promoters want to book you for talent and not because they feel they owe you... then you get to open for the sound crew and security.

I didn't mean it like that. I meant I was worried about people looking at the DJs who represented Infared and due to that they're deemed shady. Kind of like how you were once with Boogie Tribe and Adam brought that up on a message board before memf. I personally am not worried about not getting booked ever again. I've been doing this for 10+ years so it's not like I have problems promoting myself. You're talking to me as if I just started. I didn't expect you to know anything about me anyway considering I'm not an ass-kissing, snobby Drum & Bass DJ. No worries though.

jerry has been spinning since the late 90's, i know. i was there... he just doesnt get much Chicago exposure due to the genre. I think he used to go by a different name or two as well... not sure though.
