NO HEADLINERS ON SAT NIGHT?
Thats a promotion company killer right there. Never should you not pay your headliners because of a low turnout. And If you cannot afford it, you shouldn't be throwing events. Why does all of your paying attendees have to suffer because of your failure to produce a good line up with good promoting? They still paid a ridiculous price to see the mediocre Djs that you booked. BoogieTribe died when they through LOTD5 and didn't pay their second night of headliners to save money. I never trusted giving them one cent of my hard earned money after they did that. How funny history repeats itself again. I kept my mouth shut till after the party to voice my opinion to avoid drama. But as a Midwest Promoter this really pissed me off. Its an embarrassment to put the name MEMF on such a horse shit event that is supposed to represent the midwest. Infared had no business trying to throw a three day fest. They don't have the funding. That's why I didn't go. Why do you think the party was so expensive with a shitty line up? Because they can't afford it. Matter of fact they can't afford to throw good parties either. They are always cheap about it because they do not make enough money in "real life" to be promoters. ![]() |

yeah the security was a hassle getting into the venue, but the camp area was fucking no mans land!! seriously, like anything could happend out there. Maybe they should have sold drinks inside, but security was not an issue at all. like someone said in this thread or on midwest-edm. just eat/snort/smoke/inject your shit outside of the venue.
major thing for me was that everyone was very spread out. there was a good amount of people there. friday night in the campgrounds was so wild. makeshift stages and all that. Everyone I talked to had a great time. day passes would have been good. a good amount of people came there just to party in the camping area. This was a pretty good 1st annual memf, imo. Alot of things should be learned from this one. so people should stop crying about shit, especially if they didn't even go. There was tons of cool people from all over the world that attedned. I am very happy that I attended. I do wish I saw more dj's. I was there from like 10:30 friday; I by saturday night I wanted to just chill out in the camp area. so thanks to everyone who helped this thign happen! |

My stage was a stage run by Distorted Trauma which included some Infared DJs. Our headliners DID play both Friday and Saturday. We had the bigger names play on Saturday. We did pay them. Everyone who was supposed to get paid got paid. Hell even some of the people who weren't expecting money got paid. I think the reason why people didn't show was because of the no day pass thing as well as bad weather. I'm willing to bet that if there were day passes, the event would have had more people show up. I think the idea behind who played at the event was to showcase people from the Midwest rather than have mega huge UK headliners play. If that would have been the case, then it would have been called UKEMF, no? So I guess then according to you the midwest doesn't have the calibur of DJs you like. That being said, one thing that could have been done was have 4 or 5 stages featuring the biggest Midwest talent. Problem there would've been then the majority of the talent would have been playing the styles of music that you hear every weekend at clubs and at events thrown by crews that book the more popular styles of music. Infared had already established a reputation of booking the styles of music that aren't accepted by the mainstream. The idea was to do something different. If it was done your way, you'd be singing a different tune. And between you and I, Bob, I don't think you could have done it any better. |

sounds like i should've came n hung out in the camping area.
i didnt go so i'm not gonna say anything personally, but my myspace bulliten area is completely riddled with messages saying how dissapointing or bad memf was. mostly from other djs and promoters(some who had stages) who were there. it seems like the party itself didnt deliver on severallevels, but the kids who just wanted to come get fucked up and dance had a good time. i expected it would go sorta like that, i just sincerely hope lessons were learned and criticisms will be addressed instead of shrugged off. |

I went and all I can say is thank god I went to visit friends in Chicago as well as go to MEMF. It was unorganized and security did treat you like shit. I'm sorry but both Chicago area IR productions that I attended were straight crap. If the party had maybe 5 stages altogether, it would have been much better. Less DJs, yes...better time...definitely. I was highly upset at the fact of how rude people were working the party. Nobody knew anything. I came up to see Paladin play, no paladin... Did he not get paid or did he just not show? I'm thinking didn't get paid, but we'll never know for sure because IR covers their ass every time they throw a party. Always having people post that it was a good time and all this garbage. Anyways fuck all this crap...the party was a horrible joke and I hope those that did go got their opinions of IR and don't attend an IR party again. If you can't even treat your DJs right you can't throw the party right.

I was told he never showed even after he got his deposit. But I guess you won't believe a word I say because I was affiliated with Infared.

Oh, one thing on security, they weren't all weird / cocky, there were a handful of some truly nice people just doing there job. I'm picking bones with the people that crossed the line with things said that shouldn't have been said
"Coming inside? Where are your pills you're going to sell?" I usually can take a joke very well but there were other times they were just a bit rude. Anyway, there were some people as far as security goes that were very friendly =) As far as talent goes, this event is to expose aspiring DJs. |

My trick was to just re-enter shirtless and sweaty. Security didn't touch me, just one light ass grabbing and he said I was good lol. I thought the pitbulls they had prowling around were hilarious, especially the one wearing a glow necklace.
If I paid 60, or even 35 I would be bitching, but since I had some compin' action, I'll say I had a good time for the price it cost me ; ) |

Okay, if you're affliated with Infrared, please find out 100% for sure from who threw the event that handled the booking and communication if Paladin FOR SURE did not come even when he received his deposit and his reason for doing so.

I'll definitely get a full explanation. What I had written was what was said to me quickly because I was on my way out of the place back to O'Hare to pick up more people. |

Understandable, I'd just like an OFFICIAL reply from the people who actually threw the party because heresay means nothing. Please tell Infrared officials to post something from the Myspace page explaining every discrepancy that people had (or at least all those complaints that people posted such as why some of the security were being cunt rags, why headliners didn't show and the like). A full writeup would be excellent from IR.
