---
This is a thread dedicated to opinion, and feedback. This is to help not only Infared but to others on changes to be made for next year to insure best possible quality. This thread is not made for a negative purpose. --- Q:Was it worth the money? A:It was very much worth the money. Sadly enough I paid along with many others the $60 price tag. However many tend to forget that the tickets were not only offered a long time ago, but at a low price of $25. Please, if you didn't purchase presales, four-five months ahead of time, then don't complain about paying the $60. I will agree, Friday $60 to get in, okay. Saturday by all means should have dropped (not sure if it did) to atleast 45-50 ya know? Q:Talent/stages to attendee ratio? How did that go? A:I believe Infared held a bit too high in expectations as far as head count went. The total area was great to party on. However as said before there were just too many stages that simply needed to just be ... scrapped. It seemed the majority of the time people were out in parking lots and camp grounds other then the party itsself as well. Q:Would you go again if it was the same exact thing? A:I would, it was fun. It was an enjoyable time. There were hiccups here and there but really, you can't have everything perfect. Q:Okay, granted you may not be a promoter your self, what would you have liked to see differently? Security? Stages? Parking? A:Personally, I would have had the two main rooms merged, including sound (hahaha) with that said, scrap some of the `core DJs (considering there's enough of that anyway... duhn! duhn! duhn! wahhhhhhhhh! duhn! duhn!...) give me a break! I would have loved to see a lineup a bit more versatile as far as genre selection went. There was plenty of good tribal-schranz and tribal-techno, drum'n'bass, and some bits and pieces but I would have truly been happy to see atleast ONE night time artist throwing some UK Hardcore or Acid House, Acid Techno or maybe another lick of Trance or breaks ya know? Q:Overall what do you have to say? A:As previously stated, it was worth the money. It was a whole lot of fun. If it was the same damn thing, exactly next year, I would do it again. On the other hand, I got a little tired of getting molested by buff black security personal trying to bust witty phrases that were far from funny. Additionally I believe there should be some arrangement made so you're checked before you park so you can go in and out leisurely, the only time you would have to get molested and listen to someone trying to be a clown would be when you're entering the parking lot itsself. Why isn't water fifty or twenty-five cents... you pick up a 24 pack at jewel for $5 tops and people still charge $2/$1 for a bottle of water? I see it more as a safety issue then anything else. Maybe that's a bit silly on my end though. At any rate, fun time, thank you Infared for organizing the event. Hope everyone had a decent time. -Kyle |

The price actually did drop to 35 on saturday man.
I dunno, it was the first year so granted there were bound to be some things that went wrong. I actually caught a lot of really great dj's here that I wouldn't mind seeing again. In particular the dudes who set up the speakers in the camp site next to the hill with the tall grass friday night (they were playing a really good selection of minimal and house). I totally forgot there names though. In terms of paying 60 bucks for the whole weekend, to be honest I wouldn't have but thats just because money is really tight for me right now, but the price drop on saturday was for sure a good idea. I'm pretty sure there were atleast about 600 people there (most of which weren't from chicago I might add), but having that many stages really spread things out and made it seem like there wasn't too many people there. So if this happens again next year I'd suggest not having that many stages (honestly 6 stages max would have been awesome), diversifying the headliners so they're not all hardcore and harder styles of music, and bringing out one huge name thats relevant to the scene in this day and age (dubstep, electro, minimal, bmore, etc.). |

Well everybody i gotta say I had a superb time. I got opportuntiy to meet lots of you - so thanks for that - and hopefully you will know who I am because i was the only guy there from England. Its disappointing as fuck that raves just arent big in the USA - but to the organisers of this event CONGRATULATIONS you did a mega job.
If and when this event come around again - I thin ticket prices around the 40 bucks mark are definately fair - but if presalesd were sold as low as 25 bucks - anybody who complains at paying 60 has no argument at all. In comparison to raves in England, this was certainly not as busy (people wise) but on number of rooms and Dj lineups was defiantely a good effort. If i was orgainising this event i wouldnt have had as many areas, maybe just 5 total and thats it. I havent got anything realy bad to say about the whole night. It was awesome. Like i said - just wish it was busier. Your security were very laid back and fair - and trust the same event in england would have had everybody search thoroughly, not just a quick pat down! What are the chance of being able to sell beer / alcohol inside the venue? It kind of sucked to have to keep going in and out just to keep a buzz going! Would have loved to see one or two realy big names in the rave scene or maybe a guest dj from englands scene - but that all is determined by budgets and only you guys know howe much money you have. A few sets of UK hardcore and classic / o;d school hardcore would have been phenominal but all in all WELL DONE to all the organisers. This was my very first taster of rave scenes here in chicago and i loved it. Oh and just one more thing - holding these raves in the suburbs - for me - is a far better idea than going all the way to Chicago Heights, etc. Once again thanks and I look forward to many more raves in the future. Please put me on your distribution list for info on future raves. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ![]() |

Luna C is a member of the UK scene, no?
IMO though, he sucked. Maybe I was wrong to expect a Slipmatt-esque set like the one from gen. source last december, but really Luna-C didn't bring it for me. There was all this vocal-less UK hardcore that was still cheesey. I left that stage after like 30ish mins into it, so maybe he picked it up.. |

Was a great weekend overall. Too tired to type very much, going to doc for 2nd degree sunburn now.. heh. but yeah was overall good. The campground after nightfall was insanity. The British guy in the field was entertaining hahah. Nothing like a good political talk in the early hours of the mornign, hungover as hell, with a British dude here in america on some technicality that involved homosexual couples or somethign.. hah
I don't have much memory of saturday like 5am to whenever i got home. I think i slept for like 27 hours or something after all that to all who said this party will be a flop ![]() |

I had fun .. even though the turn out was considerable low. The security wasn't bad at all, what else would you expect at least they weren't saying take off your shoes and had dogs all over. If you walk up with a hundred pills in your pocket and expecting to walk right in your retarded. As far as getting paid I didn't, but I'm a lot more understanding then most people. Dude lost his ass. If he gets back up I would be amazed.
If Infared ever does anything ever again make sure you guys communicate more and hopefully this weekend was a good lesson for you. props to bak pak, lockdown toymaker ,beatcrazy , 50 foot robots and all the other stages. Thanks to the Inspire guys for doing some fire poi during my set. I will be talking with you soon. Mellen Mountain Music Fest will be the next event Inspire and I will be performing at. |

Time to stir up some controversy, shall we?
Here's a review from a friend who went with a group of 8 people to MEMF ------- MEMF Review: Fail Fest 2008. Current mood: disappointed Category: Music MEMF was the biggest joke for a party I've ever seen in my life. The security was rude and hateful. I understand that security must be strict at places and events like this, I have no problem with that, but you don't have to call people "fucking freaks", boss them around saying shit like "get over here now. do this, do that." for no reason other than the fact that your shirt says "SECURITY" and mine doesn't. Like that gives you the fucking right to be a fucking cunt. Not letting people in and out of the stage areas because Infrared couldn't get their shit together is not our fault. We gave you 60 dollars of OUR money to be treated like shit by your people? I don't think so. Second of all, some kid can't handle his shit and ends up leaving in an ambulance so they shut down the first night's worth of music 3 hours ahead of schedule? What the fuck man. Your inability to properly pat down the people that are entering is once again, not my fucking fault. There were cops everywhere. You throw your party on county fucking property, fairgrounds actually, in the middle of freakin' upper-class suburban Chicago, and they're going to be there. But having them walk around the camping area for shit to do and people to bust is not fucking cool. You fucked over alot of my friends, Infrared, you're a waste of time and money. I hope you never throw another MEMF again, and if you do, I hope it turns out more poorly than the first. If that's even possible. Not to mention, you treated your local DJs, your out-of-town/state DJs AND YOUR HEADLINERS like shit. You obviously don't give a flying rat's ass about this scene, so just stay the fuck out of it and save us the time, money, and vacation time you idiots. FUCK INFRARED. I'm never going to drive 6 hours to one of your shit parties again. This party in NO WAY WHATSOEVER represented the Midwest as it needed to be represented. Failures like this are why the scene is dying, so go waste your money somewhere else and so will I. |
