MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO will be performing live in Chicago at the Abbey on Saturday, April 19th. This will be the first leg of their 2008 U.S. tour, in support of their upcoming full-length release 'Autoimmune'. Opening the shows will be Raz Mesinai's Badawi.

His constantly evolving musical invention has generated a long string of influential futuristic classics, "God O.D.", "Strap Down", "Psyche Out", "Helter Skelter", "Radio Babylon", "Edge of No Control" and "It's The Music". The single, "Prime Audio Soup", from the Meat Beat Manifesto album Actual Sounds and Voices, was featured in the sci-fi fantasy blockbuster The Matrix and on its platinum-selling soundtrack. An acknowledged innovator in the electronic music scene, Jack Dangers continues to stretch sonic boundaries and influence new generations of sound activists. As a premiere remixer, producer and sound designer, he has played a seminal role in defining tomorrows' music today. *********** Raz Mesinai has produced over a dozen albums on such diverse labels as Asphodel, Instinct, The Agriculture, old school dub & punk label ROIR, and John Zorn’s Tzadik imprint. His music synthesizes modern technology, contemporary composition, improvisation and live dub techniques. In 1991, Mesinai formed the seminal modern dub duo Sub Dub with veteran producer John Ward. This made him a key figure in the New York electronic and experimental scenes. In 1994 he released his first solo album “Bedouin Sound Clash” under the moniker Badawi. The Badawi project has continued to evolve and the newest Badawi release, “Unit of Resistance”, includes remixes by Kode 9, DJ Rupture, & DJ Spooky among others. In 2005 Mesinai’s opera, “Myth Of Nations,” based on the ancient Sumerian myth of Inanna’s descent to the Underworld, premiered at The Kitchen in New York City, and was performed at the Etna Festival in Catania, Sicily. In 2008, the Kronos Quartet will premiere Mesinai’s “Crossfader” for string quartet. |
