LA raver movin to chicago

so what's the scene like out there like is there partys every weekend or is it like more e every now and then thing??? are the partys big or small when they do happen..what kinda music is played? like is it more trance DnB or hardcore or even happycore??

They pop up maybe 3 to 4 times a month. It all depends on what crews throwing it in terms of music. For the most part its Dnb, Hard Techno, Hardcore, Minimal techno, House. The music is probally a little bit more diverse then whats going on in LA judging by the flyers I've seen. Most of the time partys are a lot of locals....thats not a bad thing though, chicago has one of the best Dj pools in the country!!!!

House is and always will be king in Chicago, and most parties in the city are usually small or mid-sized and tend to have either all house and/or Drum & Bass, with the occasional techno or hardcore DJs. Outside the city there seems to be more hardcore and techno represented, esp. the closer you get to Wisconsin and the more rural areas. On the other hand if you're over 21 there's every flavor of electronic music you can think of available in Chicago; from dubstep, to old school ragga jungle nights, to breakcore live PA's, to weird artsy IDM stuff, and of course all the big name house, jungle, and techno acts from all over the world come here.

so do you guys have a lot of massives out there cause out here there seems to be one like every two months or so..
and im a dj so when i come out there ill bring my stuff and ill have a underground so bring your runnin shoes...lol and my 2,500 watt system with me and ill show you how we do it in downtown LA

and imho i think theres more hardcore than tycho says, i'm damn near burnt out on it. but ya u can find any genre your looking for if u look hard enough.

man thats sad a 800 person massive but what ever ill get ppl to come trust me.. the last party i had in my backyard turned out 1200ppl

Its honestly not about the number of people that go, I've been to larger scale partys myself and actually prefer things to be on a smaller scale like how it is in chicago.

If you're looking for massives, you're gonna be disappointed. I can't think of a single party in Chicago in the last 5 or 6 years that had more than 700-800 people in attendance and that's being generous. Nowadays it's all about the lofts, warehouse basements, roller rinks, bowling alleys, and auditoriums.

Yeah right on about the massives.. smaller gatherings range in numbers anywhere from 50-200 or 300 people. Not an enormous amount of the scene out here though.. all of this damn hip hop and emo mainstream >< no offense on the emo Eylius :P
