Everyone needs to chill the fuck out about the need for "underground" venues. Although venues can totally add to or detract from paties, the music and people in attendance are what actually matter.

For one, what the hell actually is an 'underground' venue? By underground do you guys mean a super secret hidden location where it would be illegal to throw a party? Maybe thats what some of you would think, but in reality, for a party to last until its stated end-time, it can not be at such a location, especially if it was being promoted ANYWHERE online. Every last party that I've been to that I recall going on all night was at a legitimate, legal location, no matter how unorthodox or underground it may have seemed.

Just keep in mind that when a party goes on sucessuly all night, its not because it was "too underground" for the cops to know about it. They know about any party thats promoted on any of these boards. Therefore, the party goes on because the cops let it (i.e. it was thrown in accordance with city/township gathering and fire codes and proper permits were attained and presented).

As a result nothing sucessful is truly 'underground', so stop stressing that as a key factor to sucess of parties in today's day and age.

if it was at the congress i would say HELL FUCKING YES! wtf difference does it make where its at? If its at the congress, at least i know im gonna get the fattest sound possible and wicked ass lighting presentation.

its like you guys think you cant "party hard" at a venue thats legal... um yes you can, just dont get so fucked up you can't function and dance.


oh yeah and the definition of underground for me is...

an event that is attended by and thrown by 'our scene' be it at a legal venue or not. for example, to me, purenation in 2006 was an underground, even though it was at a legal concert venue on the lake front. Wicked ass djs came and tore it up. The sound and lighting were amazing. I 'partied hard' and danced my ass off and had the best time i had at a 'rave' in chicago in a long time.

honestly, id rather this party be at the congress then stage 83 or oasis (just likely guesses) - at least then i can take a cab or CTA home if i have to.

if you cats think that posting an event on a message board online get it busted you are really naive... you really think that the cops have nothing better to do that sit around online and look for parties to bust? no. If a party is obnoxious enough, or in a stupid location to the point where it gets their attention... be it a noise complaint or fucked up ravers walking the streets near by... when you are cop driving around you tend to notice things on your regular beat that don't happen all the time... like 200 more cars than normal, people walking around at odd hours and the faint sound of thumping bass in the distance. The internet doesn't get raves busted. Raves get raves busted. It happens.

And just for example... take my last party vicious cycle... it was posted online... shit the address was online for a day, the day of the event. They obviously werent planning on busting it because if they were, they would have busted it a lot earlier than 1am. The reason i know that is because the only reason to wait till then to bust a party would be to try to shake down ravers and get a bunch of arrests. That did not happen. They didnt give two shits about anything except clearing the place out and shutting it down. They didnt even fuck with us for christ sake. They told us that they stopped some kids looking for their car that looked 'questionable' (ie they were raved the fuck out) and got the location of the party out of them and shut it down just to shut it down.
