edIT- Los Angeles, CA- Alpha Pup Records, The Glitch Mob
Hip-hop/ IDM/ Glitch

It was 2003 when "The Con Artist" adopted the edIT moniker, while finishing his debut solo album Crying Over Pros for No Reason. The album was released by µ-Ziq's Planet-Mu imprint a year later in 2004. The album was a downtempo love-maker's epic about opportunities lost. Shortly thereafter, he shifted gears towards the dance floor and remixed Daedelus' "Dumbfound" for Plug Research, which became a party rockin' classic, and further established edIT as a force to be reckoned with in the IDM and electronic worlds. Aside from remixes, edIT garnered a lot of fame through his mash-ups of Top 40 radio jams by ridiculously cutting up a cappellas with hyper-glitch edits over original and popular hip-hop beats. The popularity of his mash-ups also led to a full-length mixtape commissioned by Hefty Records for their 10-year anniversary where he mashed the Hefty catalog with the likes of Li'l Wayne, T.I., Paul Wall and more. This mix became an overnight cult classic and was talk of the blogoshpere.
Next, edIT's focus turned towards original productions and his highly-anticipated sophomore album Certified Air Raid Material. Being released this Fall by L.A.'s most daring indie label Alpha Pup Records, the album has been a long four years in the making, featuring collaborations with close allies such as The Grouch, Busdriver, TTC, Abstract Rude and D-Styles. Suffice to say, Certified Air Raid Material is a dramatic departure from the melancholy downtempo sounds of Crying Over Pros for No Reason. Upbeat, energetic and impossibly complex, Certified Air Raid Material has certainly raised the bar for state-of-the-art electronic music production. The record is a tour de force of sheer production and engineering genius, resulting in a soulful and futuristic style of dance music that is incomparable to anything else out there.
Although the fun-loving nature of the music is evident, it also delivers a deeper message of peace and unity. According to edIT, "the idea behind the name 'Certified Air Raid Material' has often been misunderstood with violent connotations and negative undertones. Though the sound of this album is aggressive, raw and in-your-face, I am trying to use this album as a mirror to present state of affairs in our world. With this album I am trying to show that we have no more needs for bombs, violence, fear and negativity. Alternatively, this album can be viewed as a soundtrack for us to release all of those aggressions on the dancefloor. In a time when the world is falling apart slowly at the seams, it is most important to realize there is always hope. And through the universal language of music we can unify so that we can elevate."

Epcot- San Francisco, CA- Tru Thoughts Records
Rap/ Punk/ Psychedelic

Epcot, the card-holding lazerbass six shooter, ½ of Epcot & Salva, ½ alligator. Epcot & Salva have been popularized by vocal/production collaborations with electro legends Tipper, Sibegg and The Glitch Mob, as well as hip-hop mainstays P.O.S., Def Harmonic, Mac Lethal and Approach. Together in their main artistic endeavor, boundaries are blurred as live scratching, vocal processing, beats, synths and evil party raps are homogenized on stage. Salva’s remix portfolio includes up and coming pop acts Walter Meego and Leo Minor. This San Francisco-based duo has releases scattered amongst independent labels across the globe and in the near future with Tru Thoughts (UK) and Bay Area’s Daly City Records, appearing on Mochipet’s Microphonepet LP.
With a solo performance from Epcot, anticipate hip-hop quickdraws, West Coast booty beats and bass in your face.

Popstatic- Chicago,IL – Samurai.fm
Electro/Pop/World

Using the freedoms that typified the music of the late-60's as a framework for his aesthetic, Popstatic weaves disparate sounds from different genres, countries and eras into a surreal, dreamlike musical experience. It will not be unusual to hear dance music of a dozen different varieties rubbing shoulders with obscure international pop gems, textural ambient sounds and a whole lot more.

I like dubstep. That's what's so great about phaded. There isn't enough of that shit here.

Some of the chi locals (and when I say some, I mean like 1% of chi locals, who actually do more than just spin record after record.) are more exciting to me than some of the headliners.

That's just how I am. Plus, I don't have the pleasure of going to 21+ clubs. That is, not until 11/12. :P

I'm not into the whole petty internet debates thing, but whatever.

When I said there isn't enough of dubstep here, I meant as a whole. 1 or 2 dubstep djs still makes the genre a minority.

There's (more than) enough hardcore, there's enough house, etc etc.

Dubstep is still growing in the midwest.

Please. Engage in better hobbies.

We have not talked since the snow graced our land.

This is just wrong, Little Leo.

(and yes, I have heard about this 'Kai'. I take no offense.)
