No, SummerDance is made for any kind of music to be played, but it seems this summer it won't be any EDM. That really sucks ass, it seems like Chicago doesn't care about Dance Music anymore...

i went to summer dance last night to see chicago afrobeat project. it was great vibes & alot of dancing.

i inquired as to the reason for EDM's abscence... asked a bunch of workers & shit.

apperently, plants were trampled & people got in fights, so they ditched the idea for this summer. there is talk of bringing it back next summer. :[

yeah well, that's kinda b.s. since we all know EDM is about peace and love and rarely people get into fights and shit. Rock and Rap is what makes ppl go crazy on each other, but no... they will never ban that.

Why are you so shocked? I go to summer dance every year, born and raised in the Chi and it's always been awesome. It's open air and a range of ages does show up and that is part of the energy and fun. Bringing house music to all ages is a way to keep it alive.

I say come anyway. I go to other music night types also and they are super fun too. The difference is that those music styles have specific dance styles that can and are taught within the first hour (the rest is for free expression.
