Jack McDevitt is Detroit Bound!!
Jack McDevitt going to be in town so book me tour!!! Oct 5th - 7th 2005 Music style - Nu-Skool Breaks & Tech-House Booking contact - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Bio: Jack McDevitt has been part of the culture since the mid 1990s; working behind production company, United Tribe Productions. Having been a radio DJ since 1996 Jack felt his natural progression was to become a club DJ. He began playing along side DJ's like Chris Reavey, Yuichi Murakami and Shuhei Yamamoto. All of whom showed him the proper ways of programming and working a crowd. He started paying opening slots at their night Mission at club hell in Providence, RI but after the night ended he had no place to go. Then it happened. He got a opening slot at the famed Limelight in New York. He drove his heart down there in the middle of a blizzard and found no other DJ's showed up to the club. This meant he had to play the main floor. This was the door he needed opened. After this performance they had him back, and this began his career. Jack continued playing New York venues and used the lengthy timeslots to work on his style of mixing. It was in the Spring of 2000 when DJ Venom of Volume Productions asked Jack to join his crew. Jack found his new home. Having been playing clubs for years, the rave scene was an entirely new world. This is where Jack found his new style progressing. By mixing tech-house with breaks Jack was able to carve a niche in Rhode Island that he was unaware had already been carved by another DJ from his hometown named MO7S. Jack continued with Volume playing at their weekly Energy and Twist, where he was able to open for Mistress Barbara. Jack kept pushing himself more and more, still playing in New York every weekend, and moving himself into other small rave oriented weeklies around New England. Around the Winter of 2000 Jack met Midas, a DJ from his hometown Manchester that would later become one his main influences. In 2001 Jack moved home and started work at the family business never forgetting his music. He met up with Fortune 500. They showed him the other side of the coin. MO7S showed him an entirely different mixing style, while Midas showed how through attitude alone you can rock a party. Jack kept pushing himself more and more, picking up Rave bookings while still trying to keep his hands wrapped around New York. Jack has played with DJ's like Josh Wink, Andy C, Bad Boy Bill, Little Louie Vega & Eric Morillo, Sugarhill Gang, 2 Live Crew, and DJ Dan among many others. He has opened for DJ Craze and Rap on more then one occasion and has always understood his place. Having played over 300 parties in 6 years Jack has learned the balance between floor rocking and party hoppin and is able to deliver. Jack has stayed down to earth, always lending a helping hand to that next up and coming DJ. When he is not behind the decks his primary focus is his career and taking it to the next level, and trying to start a family. |
