Forest Detroit, Michigan|23 48201 United States Description: Vince Piascik Photobucket DJ Minx(Women on Wax, Detroit) Jennifer Witcher a.k.a. DJ Minx, has chosen a profession that allows her to mingle with the world's most talented people. She was inspired to spin by the famed Music Institute in Detroit. A featured DJ for the notable "Deep Space Radio" program, she was also the on-air hostess and engineer for the same. Her style is described as funky, powerful house, with a smudge of grace. From 1992 - 1995, as CEO of the Skyloft Gallery, Minx teamed with Jerry the Cat and Dana Keaton to develop an underground art/music gallery that served as a nexus for bringing together underexposed artists from various fields. It provided a huge opportunity for Minx to program innovative events showcasing Detroit's underground community of artists, musicians, DJs, and designers. Every Saturday night, Minx traveled to WGPR 107.5 FM for transcendent upon "Deep Space Radio". The show was headed by the innovators of techno music: "Magic" Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Eddie Fowlkes, and Derrick May. She played mixes by Kenny "Moodyman" Dixon and Stacy Pullen as well as the show's helmsmen. There were also live interviews during the show that once featured Roger Sanchez as he worked on a track at "Strong Room Studios" in England. She also voluntarily did a radio program at the University of Windsor on CJAM 91.5 FM called "Steamy Windows" once weekly playing house and dance music by various artists locally and internationally. In December 1996, Minx gave birth to Women on Wax, a collective of lady DJs from the Metro Detroit area. She then began working with promoters and DJs all over the country, and is now planning a Women On Wax tour. From 12/98 to 12/99, as a resident of world-renowned Club Motor, Minx opened for Basement Jaxx, Doc Martin, Cajmere, and Afrika Bambatta just to name a few. She has also played alongside Richie Hawtin, John Acquiviva, and Timmy Regisford at various one-offs. When the first-ever Detroit Electronic Music Festival (D.E.M.F.) hit in May 2000 in downtown Detroit with over 1.5 million people in attendance, it had an incredible impact on Minx's career. Since then, she's played at Toronto's Film Lounge, Club Ohm in Portland, Club Sugar in Baltimore, Club Air in Japan and has been featured on Much Music's Electric Circus weekly Dance Show. Now on the HITGIRL! roster, Minx has been on tour to Paris, Berlin, Cancun, Memphis, and New York, and has also traveled to Switzerland, Tokyo, Spain, and Belgium. Recently dubbed Detroit’s “First Lady of Wax”, Minx is working on her 8th release on her Women On Wax Recordings label. In early 2005, Minx expanded her musical majesty by creating a sub-imprint of WOW Recordings called W.O.W. B.A.M. (Women On Wax Bangin’ Ass Music). Besides releases on both of her labels, she also has a single on Minus called “A Walk In the Park” and is featured in Richie Hawtin’s DE9 Transitions mix. She’s also worked remixes for Trisomie 21 (Paris), Soiree Records (Detroit), West End Records (New York) and Psychostasia Recordings (Detroit). Her performances have been stirring souls to a boil throughout the U.S. and beyond. REVOLT (Profound Sound Detroit) Photobucket Revolt, a.k.a. Daniel James, is the founder of Profound Sound Productions and quickly becoming a force in the Detroit music scene. In the late 90's, Revolt hit the scene running, banging out progressive sets for eager crowds all over the city. After some exposure to breaks, Revolt hooked up with local phenomenal, Breakloose and made his impression there. Progressing through genres, Revolt began exploring techno and all it offered and ended up becoming a lover of minimal. At the same time, he started Profound Sound Productions and began booking parties in the hottest venues in Detroit. As he explores writing his own material and incorporating it into his sets, you can expect Revolt to continue to make a definitive statement in the Midwest electronic music scene. Joel Chartier (L.P. Events/Massive Detroit) Photobucket Joel Chartier of L.P. EVENTS first had the itch to spin when he heard Richard Humpty Vission’s damn that dj made my day, back in august of 2001. From that point on his mind was made up for that he was gonna be a dj. The next step was to get equipment. His first set of tables were a pair of stanton str8 80’s with a raido shack mixing board. Once he had the equipment the hard part was about to begin. Joel Chartier found that the art of mixing and matching beats was not as easy as Richard Vission made it seem. Never the less he practiced non stop until he mastered his craft. Now while doing shows from Detroit to Chicago, IL and involving himself in every part of the electronic music world that he can. His equipment now includes two Technic 1200 turntables, a Pioneer DJM 600 Mixer , Rane Serato scratch live. For large shows he brings the powered mackie system to ensure the best sound quality. His genres of music now include minimal, electro, house and break beats. VINSANITY (L.P. EVENTS/Massive Detroit, Chicago) Photobucket Vincent Piascik of L.P. EVENTS started performing as a DJ at backyard parties with his first set of Gemini XL 500 turntables and a Radioshack mixer. After that he moved on to work as a DJ for some extra cash, doing weddings, graduation parties, sweet sixteens and other social events. . Vinsanity had been a regular person to the rave scene throughout the late 90’s and early 2000's. Vinsanity aspired to create an atmosphere similar to the DJs he would go see so often. From there he bought his first House cd which was Bad Boy Bill banging the box Volume 4. This was not only a CD to him but more of an inspiration. To this day Bad Boy Bills music and DJ strategy has inspired DJ Vin$anity's musical background like no other. Now with a strong drive to suceed in the musical industry Vin$anity has become the owner of a company know as L.P. EVENTS From this point on Vinsanity's goals are to love to explore all types of music day in and day out and become a worldwide DJ and share his love of music with everyone else that has the love for music also.
