Click here for more information on the Mardi Gras Party Tent, a part of the Mardi Gras VIP Experience! 2008 15th Annual Beggin'â Strips Barkus Pet Parade When: Sunday, January 27th Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Menard and Allen. Parade steps off at 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Menard and Allen. Coronation begins promptly at 2:00 p.m. in Soulard Farmers Market Park, where five lucky dogs will be crowned King, Queen, Prince, Princess and Jester of the 2008 Beggin' Strips Barkus Court. This year, there will also be a new category for groups, where herds of dachshunds, packs of pugs and troops of terriers will show off their collaborative costume efforts. The best group* will take home the title of "Most Loyal Subjects." Winners will be selected based on the creativity and colors of their Mardi Gras-themed costumes and their fun-loving, memorable personalities. *A group constitutes 3-5 dogs. Where: On-site registration and the beginning of the parade is at the intersection of Menard and Allen (See map for parade route). What: Get ready for a PET-ACULAR event as thousands of four-legged friends and their owners hit the streets of Soulard to celebrate the 15th annual Begginâ’ Strips Barkus Pet Parade. It’s one of the largest pet parades in the world, and 2008 marks its 15th anniversary of being the place to be seen for pet owners. There will be plenty of tail-wagging good fun as dogs and other lovable pets parade in their colorful Mardi Gras-themed costumes. Animal participants are subject to the approval of Mardi Gras, Inc. and the St. Louis Department of Animal Control based on appropriateness, temperament and health. Cost: Your $10 registration fee benefits Open Door Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill animal shelter just outside of St. Louis. Registrants will receive a Beggin’ Party bag** filled with treats and will be eligible to win one of six Beggin’ Strips Barkus Court royal titles. Fat Tuesday Parade When: Tuesday, February 5 Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Where: The Parade takes place in downtown St. Louis ending at Kiener Plaza What: Celebrate last call before Lent with a "Light Up the Night" Fat Tuesday Parade featuring premiere Krewes from the Mardi Gras festival.
