All of the above mentioned is false. In this particular scenario the club dicked the promoters so you cant blame them. There were also well over 500 kids in attendance. On top of which who the fuck is learning shit from a promoter in Ohio. I have been to parties out there. That was a whack as shit statement. As for Cali they spend tons and tons of money that promoters out here just dont have on top of which they have many venues that will still hold events, and their events are more centered around drugs and cuddle puddles than anything else.

So basicly you are all learning what I have been bitch about for a year now. The promoters are newbies themselves now and have no clue what a rave is. Someone wrote for them to goto cali. Thats a good idea but they can just look at video of old raves in NY becuase this shit was rare back when. Yes, i know many parties I was chucked out of but not every time. Glad to see your learning.

First of all I can say you've missed a lot of good parties in the past 7 years. I will say our scene is shrinkng but it's doing better now then it w as three years ago. A lot of places in the US are struggling to keep the rave seen alive. I was talking to dj Funk and he told me chicago and detriot is mostly clubs nowadays.
As for the candyhomo comment... you have it wrong. There's less candykids now then there was when I started raving which was 1999. The only happy hardcore party I've been to in past 5 years just took place at exit in nyc two weeks ago. It was the first time I've seen people wear candy openly in years and not gettting discrimnated for it by the other ravers. And honestly there's nothing wrong with being a candykid. They add more to a vibe probably then you ever did. As for dressing weird at parties... I know plently of ravers that were raving before your time and during your time and I can honestly say I know tons of stories about people dressing up weird to goto parties. Haven't you ever seen party monsteR? Thats a good example of what I'm talking about. If anything people are less inventive nowadays unless it's for a halloween rave. As for your comment about hardcore. Hardcore is still one the most popular styles of EDM in the city. And in complete honesty the problem with the scene today is people bitch too much and do too little. If you want to make raves to be something more then start throwing your own parties. Start promoting for crews you support. If your sitting there bitching and not even attempting to make a change then you really have no reason to complain. Parties dont throw themselves. It takes a lot of work, time and money. If you think you can do it better, then do it. However if your just going to sit on your computer and make a stupid thread about how the rave scene is dead and it was better back in the day then your just wasting time that could be spent on more constructive things. That's the problem with ravers today they expect it to be all hands out. Why don't you throw your own party and tell me how easy it was? I don't care how long you've been raving for or why you feel the need to act so jaded... My advice to any of you who think this scene needs to be better is to become active because if your just going to sit on your ass and complain then you're not making much of a difference. You're just going to become one of those jaded ravers that we all get tired of hearing from and slowly tune out because we've heard it all before. |

The only reason kandi is still at parties has to do with an image people think they have to fit. Secondly, this kids whole point was that places like exit are shit in comparison to older venues and I agree, however the larger venues dont get filled. Thirdly, his whole point is that he was a supporter not a promoter. I fit that bill I help out where I can but I help more by going out every week. Lastly the scene is much more dead today than 2007. Maybe not where you are from RI, but in NYC which is where this forum is directed and where this kid is talking about the scene has dwindled. Now Dont get me wrong I dont think it is dead all together but it is on its way out. However there are more people now than there have been over the last couple of years who are trying to put shit back together. Laws have become much more strict and the willingness to do drugs is not as prevalent as it once was. The fact that the success of a party lies heavily on the bar is a sad state of affairs.

Give me a break shit was done in NYC around 2000-2001. 1999 is pretty recent. And if you have not been to over 50 hardcore parties then you really cant know shit. And if it stays like this you never will. And yes, people dress like candyhomos to fit in. And there are more now then 1999 and 1995 and 2000 and from then on it grew. So talk to me when you know facts. you dont even live here. |

wow you have no clue when it comes to kids dressing up. Back in 92 there was tons of kids dressing up when it came to parties(and yes back then it was real compared to what it was in 95-2000). I rember going to the casa in l.a.(think of the worst possible place you could hold a rave ie getting shot at on the way there) and seeing the most diverse crowd of people there (whites ,blacks, trans, gays etc and everyone getting along without resorting to oh look at the candi kids etc... teh whole point of it back then was for different people who coudnt get into the fancy clubs and listen to some weird ass music. i wasnt a candy kid but i have no beefs on what another person should and shouldnt do,dress etc. you may think that the new school ruined it but in reality those years right around 99-2000 really ruined it compared to what i experience back in 92. 90% of the population dint know what a rave was back in 92. so b4 you rant and rave about candi kids know your facts and listen to someone who was around when raves truely where just that.

NY and Cali are two totally separate animals. Like oil and water. NY has always been dirtier and thuggy, Cali has always centered around plur.

Thats why god has decided to put a huge fault line right down the middle of the state. haha. If I were falling slowly into the ocean, i might put on some glitter and clown pants and say "plur man" alot.......(thinking).....actually,....no. i probably would just rather fall into the ocean in my nike fitted. ha. god knows that cali is too nice, and everyone is too damn happy so as punishment for plur he causes fires, mudslides, and earthquakes. Everyone knows that. ha. |
