SONZ OF MECHA
Mechanoise - Def Box - Last Meal - Revolution Music - Breaks FM – UK

Jody Shires (Bionic) and Alex Orton-Green (Yoof) are two brothers behind the Sonz of Mecha. Both born and raised in South East London and boasting some serious credentials. Starting their careers as a young band signed to Warner Brothers they went on to create one of the original and most respected of UK breakbeat labels.

First and foremost they are the label bosses and owners of the innovative and truly underground U.K breakbeat label Mechanoise which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and has grown into the Mechamusic empire encompassing 4 sub-labels including Def Box, Last Meal, Revolution Music and Breaks FM Recordings. Collectively, they produce under the guises Sonz of Mecha, Uncouth Youth and Mechanoise Soundsystem. They also founded the 4 time Breakspoll Award winning internet radio station Breaks FM which is managed by owner Jody Shires (Bionic) and they also won best international DJ at the Public Noize Awards in 2005 in Spain.

They have built a strong roster of artists over the years, and have worked with a huge selection of other DJ’s, labels and producers. Rumoured to be the original driving force behind regular breakbeat bootlegs (remember Shady and the massive Get Ya Freak On Booty?). Artists such as VR Boy, 2 Sinners, Danny McMillan, Digital Pimp, R-Kidz and Noize (The Lawgiverz), Breakfastaz, Distortionz, Phrenetic, Quest, Mutiny, Ed209, Cereal Killaz,Stormtroopers, D-Ranged, Rektchords, Bomberman, Crazy 88's, Dirty South , S.L.U.G, Killian have all appeared on Mechanoise and its associated labels.

Long term regulars of the legendary Trigger events and appearing at raves, clubs and festivals around the world they are well known for their uncompromising style and approach to DJ'ing; bringing a constantly evolving mixture of breakbeat flavors as well as the tearout sound they are well known for giving birth to!

WAVEWHORE
Broke Recordings - BreaksFM - Electrofly Records - BombTraxx - NYC

With his recent releases on high profile record labels such as Broke, BreaksFM and Electrofly, his Audio Tactics Recordings imprint and a hectic touring schedule, Wavewhore is quickly building a reputation as one to watch in the global break beat community. His skills behind the decks have also led him to host ‘The Audio Tactics Sessions’ on the award-winning [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] where he can be heard every other Monday evening from 8-10pm EST. In addition, he has appeared as a guest on Liquid Todd’s ‘Altered State’ radio show on WKTU 103.5 FM New York City and Annie Nightingale’s infamous radio show on BBC Radio 1 London. As a DJ, Wavewhore has consistently held the top breaks residency in his home base of New York City and has shared the stage with almost every major international breakbeat artist. His high-intensity DJ sets blend many styles of breaks from funk to tear-out to tech into powerful and effective mixes that whip dancefloor crowds into a frenzy.

Wavewhore’s cutting edge music has also received high level support from many of the top names in the business including Aquasky, Freestylers, General Midi, DJ Icey, The Autobots, Annie Nightingale, Jay Cunning, Chris Carter, Soul of Man, Elite Force, Ctrl Z, Klaus Hill, Sunz of Mecha and many more. Wavewhore began his musical career playing heavy metal guitar and toured the New York City area in the early 90's. During that time, he was also experimenting with electronic music and in 1992, Well Primed Records released his first electronic dance music composition titled "Voodoo".

In 2004, Wavewhore signed with Electrofly Records and "Breakin' The Law" was released on vinyl in May 2005. His mammoth "Funk Pill" single, which features vocals from Bex Riley, was released on Broke Recordings in 2005 and has been repressed on vinyl four times. “Funk Pill” was also licensed to Finger Lickin’ Records for the “Export 01” compilation mixed by the Drumattic Twins. In October 2006, Broke released Wavewhore’s most recent funk-fuelled single titled “This Is How It Should Be Done” and in the same month his heavy remix of Rektchordz’s “Bass Pressure” was also released on the BreaksFM imprint. The “Bass Pressure” remix has become an anthem in the massive breakbeat raves in Spain. Forthcoming releases include a remix of D-Ranged’s “Assembled” which is scheduled to appear on BombTraxx in March 2007, as well as a single for the seminal Mechanoise imprint. Wavewhore’s name is derived from his addiction to manipulating audio waveforms and from all appearances he promises to be an inspiring force in electronic dance music. K-SWING
Marine Parade Records - NYC

New York female DJ sensation K-Swing (AKA Katie Kabel) has achieved astonishing success in the North American club circuit. She has toured with the likes of Adam Freeland, Hybrid and Sandra Collins and opened for acts such as The Chemical Brothers, Darren Emerson and Josh Wink. She’s also shared the stage with Evil 9, Hyper, Infusion, Meat Katie, Rennie Pilgrim and countless others. She was nominated for the Best Breakthrough DJ Award at the 2004 Dancestar USA: American Dance Music Award Show and has been featured in the pages of top dance and lifestyle magazines including URB, DJ Mag (Adam Freeland called Katie “Best undiscovered DJ”), Teen Vogue and Loft.

After playing just about every major club in America and Canada, her reputation carried overseas and people took notice. In November 2005, Katie brought her signature style of impeccably programmed, deep, rhythmic and infectious break beat and house music to England’s Fabric, Spectrum, Supercharged and HUM. She was also invited to provide a guest mix for UK Radio 1 “Queen of Breaks” Annie Nightingale’s show, a very great honor.

In 2006 she was signed to Adam Freeland’s Marine Parade record label. This was an amazing accomplishment for her as the Marine Parade sound is something very dear to her heart. Her first release, “This Is The Sound,” (co-produced with the infamous British producer BEBER), was hailed as “one of the 5 hottest tracks in the world…” by the legendary Pete Tong on his “In New Music We Trust” program on Radio 1 in the UK.

Katie spent over 20 years of her life as a classically trained singer and dancer. Until 2004 - when her DJ career became too busy - she taught jazz, ballet, and modern dance. As a teenager, her continuous thirst for music and motion propelled her into the dance community, where she was drawn to the sounds of break beat for its deep and funky bass lines. Katie found it to offer the most freedom of movement, interpretation and self-expression of all forms of dance music. With her remarkable DJ skills and her passion for music and dance (not to mention her beauty and natural charisma), she started playing regularly at some of the American East Coast’s (and particularly New York City’s) top nightclubs and parties. This brings us to the present where K-Swing is no longer just a favorite on America’s east coast, she has also made some serious noise across the entire continent of North America and now she’s gaining fans throughout the world.
