I hope to make it up to a NYC rave this summer. I've been told they are incredible. Can you recommend some venues or upcoming events to me so I can plan my trip wisely? I like pretty much every genre of EDM so event type is not all that important.

They were incredable. Trust me dont get your hopes up for a rave here if you have even been to a huge bash. They are all at dance clubs or basment shit holes in Brooklyn. Your about 10 years too late buddy.
