X-raver, after I mentioned Vynil (Unity and Nasa) to this kid, he tells me about Pacha and other NYC superclubs. So I guess you are right to the point. But still you old enough to make a change, and if you can't do nothing about it - let it fly. This bitch file is becoming way 2 big. Personaly
I go to europe twice a year.

You want afterhour spots then check out the new shelter, duvet I believe and a few other spots. They are nothing like vinyl, nasa etc. But nothing in the city is. And while nasa was definately in the essence of rave vinyl was not. while it was a great time it was still filled with guidos, b & t, and asians like any other club in the city. Love is dope and stays open until 6 and there is always a rave of some sort a jungle or hardcore party going on every night of every weekend. While x is right in the fact that its not the same as it used to be which no one is arguing the music the same djs and the equivalent talent are still around. I mean Tenaglia still plays just about every weekend and is havig a boat party this weekend. Dont go giving that kid props where props are not due.

I dunno. Maybe X-raver has somewhat of a point. I'm sure the scene has changed dramatically since he's been. And maybe back then they were bigger, louder, etc. but i'm sure that doesn't mean that raves now are shit. Cali dude, i think you should come out here, if nothing else, than for the experience. When i save up some cash, i'm gonna rave around the country, to see how the scene varies. You should do the same! it'd be a great experience, i think. Everyone's tastes are different, and who knows? maybe you'll like the raves out here better! X-raver, i'm sure back when you raved, it was sick. But you should keep an open mind still. A rave is still amazing, as long as the music's loud and the people are dancing. Maybe get some of your friends together and go to one? After all, what do you have to lose?

Peace.

The rave scene, per say, is dead.
But what has come out of it has survived.

I went to the Hook on NY (Xraver seems to mention it frequently) I heppened to think it was alright. I'm more used to under ground, outdoor, or warehouse parties, but it wasn't so bad. My sister is 27. She used to travel to DC for parties .(best ones she's even been to she says) I can't vouche for NY, I'm barely there. But what I have seen isn't that bad.

X raver. You are comparing apples to oranges. Most people on these forums have not seen the scene you speak of. Your rave scene is completely different from what most people now a days have seen. Sure, some old heads have survived and continue to go out now. But most of the poeple are kids and they don't have a clue to your 'dead scene'. So, They are not dissapointed to what they are already used to experiencing. I happen to love the scene. and if it's a room rull of 400 people, thta's fine with me!

I am 27. And used to travel to DC to those parties in the armory I was there with her. Trust me if there was an event I was there. I was in DC I think 3 times. I know raves are not shit I never said that. In cali they are good. I just bitch about NYC. I know in fucking Amsterdamn they are slamming. But they were slamming in NYC too and now they are nothing 20 people for Chris Liberator. The Hook is the main spot now. If your sister has been to the Roseland and the Armory in DC she cannot tell me the Hook is a great venue for a rave and if she does then shes full of shit and never went anywhere. These clubs and people are still here in NYC. Its just the lineups and/or the venue why people dont come out anymore. Why the fuck would I goto a venue that is smaller then my home? Thats how it is now. And I dont even ask for a weekly bash anymore all I want is just one or two in the whole fuckin summer and 1 and only 1 over the winter break. So 3 real raves a year . These stupid promoters cant give us that and I am being a dickhead asking for it? Well fuck them then because shit dont just die I know it changes that why I said not every week for a bash. Thats my change. Keep your weeklys for the new school ravers and once and a long time in Manhattan have a real fucking rave. It used to be once a week. Why not once a season?

Yalepack, stop making a joke out of yourself. Vynil Unity nights were filled with guido? You haven't been to one even in your dream.

95/96 weekly techno events were Killer at Save the Robots & Disco 2000 @ Limelight. 96/97 kicked in Vynil's Unity friday's . Unity were 101% rave kids. It was legendary and we all knew each other.

I wonder who else been Unity's regular in this place?

It doesnt even exist. Vinyl as it was may have had the rave parties at the space but the club itself was home and owned by Danny Tenaglia. His nights for a while were just underground clubbers but as soon as Danny spun at Sound Factory that all changed. I am not a joke. I am one of the few on this board that was around years ago and still goes out twice a week. Talk shit on someone who wasnt there.

I'm sure you've run into my sister then. She has stopped going because her scene has died. I understand what you're saying as far as the venues. And I know what you mean as far as the weekly stuff. Cali is completely different, YES. They have quite a few massives. If you are speaking strictly of NY, my input is void I'm afraid, I'm barely there. The only real raves I always check out is my boys at Tru Skool and once and a while L13. But I don't really care for ones inside of clubs...it's just not the same. Anyway, I am sure that what you used to enjoy is not longer around. It's really all up to your promotors. BUT, why would they need to get huge headliners out if the kids go to it usually anyway? I understand your frustration with them, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Maybe you should save up and travel to the good raves....? Ultra in FL... Monster massive Cali...etc. I know it sucks but it's not changing anytime soon I'm afraid...

wow, I forgot that it was called Unity for a bit. That was when alan sax was promoting it right?

saw some great talent there, only thing was you were guarenteed to hear "spin spin sugar" more then you often wanted, hahaha. Backroom DnB was the shiz for real.

The kids dont go out anymore. 20 went to see Chris Liberator (I was told on here). The last 2 raves I went to one at the Hook was a fucking joke and it had a big name too still dead. Nobody goes and there is nothing to goto.
