Should the towers be huge again or should it be broken in up into a buncha smaller buildings and a bigger memorial? In my opinion I think they should be big as fuck to tell terrorists that we are stronger and bigger than before . I really don't think there will be a 911-style attack with hi-jacked planes hitting our skyscrapers gain, but who really knows

An idea I had been told of entailed mosque's to be built on the top floors of the tower(s.) I think this has long been changed, but it does make sense. Muslims will not deliberately commit an act of hate that will threaten their religious property. But on a more realistic note, they are making the towers stronger structurally, by upgrading the building materials used. Thicker windows, stronger support beams, and elevators that are all independently encased in three foot thick concrete, each running off it's own power supply. Also bomb shelters on each floor that are equipped with air filtration and sewer access, for toilets. The people in the tower, if subjected to another attack will be far better prepared and have a greater chance of survival. I like the idea of moving it back farther off the road as well, since the next attack to occur will probably show them reverting to the vehicle carried device, it's just too hard to spot and stop in all that traffic.
I like the tower and want it to rival the towers of old, or at the least, equal it. Last edited by EpiphanE; 12.7.2005 at 11:40 am.. |

Hell yeah Towers should be High as sky , anything lower than the original North and South Towers symbolically means we didnt get bigger and stronger after the attacks

if you build a tower i know that i wouldnt want to be working in it, i dont care how much safer you say it is, suposedly the first towers were really strong and see what happened to them. I dont want another tower, it is a waste of money and if it is just going to be there for looks that is pretty stupid. No matter what we build it isnt going to stop terrorists from seeing who is actually running this "democracy", they will attack until we find a better president and act like a real democracy. I know that i am not at all someone anyone should be listening to but i feel that our goverment needs to be built agian not a building. THat will show how strong we are.

I really dont want to get into a political debate but I dont think terrorism is caused by who's sitting in the chair in the White House. WTC was first attacked in 93 by Al Qaeda and Bill Clinton was in the white house. Bill Clinton didnt do much to retaliate after that, even after Osama's whereabouts were provided to him to nab him. Also , after the USS Cole attack too, under his watch. If one of your neighbors, friends, or someone in your family died because of September 11 you probably would think otherwise.

I wouldn't work in them, but would like to see them rebuilt. Even if it's mostly to remember those lost... I think it's important to the relatives and family of those lost.
So... make it HUGE!! ![]() |

good point, but still building a huge tower just doesnt make sense to me. Why dont we spend money on bringing our troops back, or helping the starving and homeless people of our county, Why a building?

Odee u have some valid points and it may seem like a waste of money to rebuild another skyscraper. I too probably woudnt work in a skyscraper at THAT location. I worked in the south tower before the attacks, but only for a short time. I remember the view of the Liberty statue below, looking out the window. I also remember the Windows on the World restaurant, the elevators, the mall beneath and the train that runs underneath. Every time I go back to the site there's an eerie feeling and I only remember it from my experience up there and from pictures I have. WTC is on PRIME real estate in lower Manhattan and not replacing it with comparable towers will cost billions in lost money for not only for the city and for NY but for the United States. You should visit the city, meet people who run a business here, and you will know why it's important to rebuild

im sorry for being a a-hole about it, i know that it means alot to many people. I guess i just have a different feeling when it comes to makeing this country stronger. I know that the people that lost someone are really upset and yes this is a good thing for them, but coulldnt we make a memorial like the vietnam one or something that people could walk through without thinking maybe another terrorist is going to blow up the building.
Dont get me wrong i feel really bad about what happened and i wish that it would of never happend i am just giving alternate ideas. |
