FUNK-E was amazing, but then shit went wack as hell. It was 98 or 99.

I was still pretty new to the scene here, in fact, this was the first party I ever took myself to. I got the flier from a girl named Kristen who went to my high school. I made friends with her via school. I listened to techno back then, but didn't really know about parties.

I convinced my parents into letting me go. I was only like 16 or 17 at the time. I told them it was a concert for techno.. Which it was, sorta

If I told them I was going to a rave I would have first had to explain to them what a rave was, because it wasn't a common household word back then.

I was dating a girl named Kate at the time, and this was to be her first time rolling.

The line outside was soooo fucking long, I'd guess around 1000 people just waiting in line. I got there early as hell at met a Chinese dude named He. I wore a shirt that I made that said Peace Love Unity Respect. Kate, He, and myself talked for like an hour while in line.

We finally get in, I bought a Massive T-shirt. The inside was fucking crazy.. It was in a basketball stadium and hockey rink slash arcade.. The venue was decked the fuck out.. They had PAWN lazers there shooting lazers into these giant metal crystal sculptures in the middle of the floor.. The DJ booth was way up where the announcers sit.. And we could run around the bleachers and the court.. I ran around there for awhile..

E pills were like fucking water in those days.. So of course Kate and I ate pills.. We rolled our faces off, doing the things ravers did in those days.. Cuddle puddles, trading stickers, giant massage circles, glow stick tricks, liquid. It was an amazing time. Fuzzy things.

I noticed that Kate started to act a little too fucked up, doing things like licking random people and such.. So we left the party early. We went back to the car in the parking lot. I was in no condition to be driving so we hung out in the car with the lights off messing around. All of a sudden there is a tap at the window, and then 4 flashlights on us. Cops were all over the parking lot, like, serious swat team shit. I thought I was getting arrested right there. I just rolled down the window, talked to the cop for a minute, and somehow must have convinced him that I had the wits about me to operate a motor vehicle because he let me drive away.

The next day it was all over the news, the papers, everywhere. I left just at the perfect time. If I had stayed in there, I would have gotten arrested with everyone else. I think 60 or so people got arrested at that party. I still have the newspaper from that day.

And thats what happened at Funk-E.

I was there too thats that party that chick got raped and shit went nuts. Now before knowing the girl thing what a fucking bash it was. I remember sniffing so much K and almost going out. What a blast!!! To bad NJ,NY are fucking dead and gay now.

SO here is the condensed version of both stories. I went to the party did drugs and made out with a chick. Dont know who spun or if there was even music there I just got real fucked up and the party was great. And then you wonder why raves would die out.

X-Dream and Micro (Caffiene, NY) was who I went for.

I might have forgotten what I did, but I'd never forget why I was there.

ASbury park. And yes, I wonder why raves died. Its bullshit and the promoters faults the new ones know shit.

I thought this one was in Morris County somewhere. Freak-e was @ Asbury.

This reaction to this and the party 'Eden' killed NJ scene. Cops were all over Funk-e from what I heard and every politician in Jersey heard about it, essentially destroying (with few exceptions)any chance to get permits for another event.
