!!! me no dj !!!

Ever an energetic actor in the electronic music scene, Montreal based artist Guillaume Coutu Dumont maintains numerous collaborative projects, performing regularly in his hometown and around the world. Driven by his passion for hybrid forms of musical expression, Guillaume continues on his quest for the ultimate ham bone funk recipe with his solo project: Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts a special blend of funk, house, techno, gospel, swing, barbershop quartet and afro-beat. His first album FACE À L'EST will be released on october 22nd on Musique risqué. So far, his solo outputs are available on Mutek_rec, Musique Risquée, Hartchef Discos, Floppy Funk, OSLO and soon on French labels Circus company and Karat.

Guillaume's initial musical forays were as a percussionist in a funk band, after which he studied latin and classical percussions in college before discovering electroacoustic composition, which he pursued further at university. It was during this period that he joined [iks], a contemporary jazz formation with whom he recorded two albums and toured for several months in Senegal. Upon his return to Montreal, Guillaume decided to focus his efforts on composition.

Influenced as much by concrete music as by techno, which he discovered one night in the midst of a lightning storm, Guillaume founded Egg (Mutek_rec, Karat, Floppy Funk), Luci (Mutek_rec, Morris Audio), Chic Miniature (Raummusik, Musique Risquée), Flabbergast (Mutek_rec), as well as the artistic collective Racam. He has toured with one or another of these projects in Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Since january 2007, Guillaume reached European soil. He has been splitting his time between two new home base :Paris and Berlin. Traveling all around for a few month now, he is always looking to get the dance floors grinning with guilty pleasure. SHAKE THAT ASS!

::Vincent Lemieux::
montreal, ca | musique risquée/mutek

Vincent Lemieux plays an integral role in Montreals experimental music community. As co-programmer of the world-renowned Mutek festival since 2000, he has not only assisted in introducing experimental and avant-garde artists to this city, but also acted as an ambassador for local production all around the world... As co-owner of the Musique Risquée imprint with Marc Leclair (Akufen), he is presently working towards bringing elctronic music latest mutation to a wider audience through a series of vinyl releases by local and international talent. Yet it is his work as a dj that has caught the ears of many listeners. Finding a work at Rotation record store in 2000 as the main buyer he started to get recognition for establshing the minimal sound of techno and house as an indiscutable Montreal sound... After the closing of Rotation it was time for him to try out the adventure himself. And HUB_musiques was born in January 2003. For 2 full years HUB was the reference for providing Montreal and its forward thinking artists with the hot new sounds in micro house, minimal and experimental electronic music. Since then, Vincent has established himself not only in the Montreal scene, but, also as respected international artist. Being the official MUTEK dj since 2002 help him built a solid recognition in such countries as Spain (Sonar), Mexico (MUTEK_MX), Chile (MUTEK_CL) and many others. His numerous trips, alongside label partnern Marc Leclair (Akufen), or by himself in Europe, mainly Germany, Switzerland and France help him solidify is reputation as dj that pushes the boundaries of acceptable forms of electronic music, feeding his need to discover and expose new music. Since the closing of HUB musiques in Januray 2005, Vincent Lemieux has been concentrating on music production. By himself, or with partner Guillaume Coutu-Dumont (Flabbergast) or Stephen Beaupre (Brandy Snifter) he tries to continue building and establishing the growing electronic scene in his home town and promoting it all around the planet with his production and his label Musique Risquée.

Since 1991 Leonard has been a fixture in New York City's underground music scene, and by the mid nineties he had taken up the incurable habit of amassing a library of vinyl. Leonard's name is on several of these releases as he has designed for a slew of labels from around the world. Leonard has started several successful weekly and bi-monthly parties (Composition, MILQ ~pre robots~, Rebel), where he DJ's alongside numerous respected international and local artists in the electronic underground music scene. His motivation lies in the pursuit to positively engage the audience with the most current and obscure sounds of today, as well as yesterday. Never forget your past or you will never know where to go in the future.

Currently he started a record label coming out of Brooklyn, NYC, called Thema. This project has been in the works for some time, but due to some critical events in NYC and personally, it had to be delayed in its launch. The music scene and its counter parts experienced a low point to say the least but after some time, the scene is now blooming and is becoming stronger and stronger! The essence of Thema is to create a multi-artist platform to help cultivate the scene here in NYC and abroad. To establish a label that focus' on the future of electronic music.

The power of sound and its inflicted emotions are part of the process.
