Hey guys, I'm from Australia. Just been looking through your forums, and I noticed you had footage from Australia, but not specifically Melbourne. Melbourne is (and I'm sure most Australians would agree), the rave capital of Australia. A revolutionary freestyle dance began to grow and has now developed into the most unique and robust dance style since the birth of Breakdancing. We call this, the Melbourne Shuffle.
Please, download the 5 promo video's. http://www.melbourneshuffler.com/Promo.htm Underground Epidemic Productions have finished making a documentary on the style of dance, and the DVD will be released on the 17th of December. Just wanted to share abit of Melbourne culture, enjoy! :] |

hey man, thanks for sharing
that revolutionary dance style isn't that revolutionary here in the states man hate to burst your bubble, but i've seen people dancing like that and very similar since i started raving in 1996.....raving isn't that different on the other side of the planet i suppose.....i trip out that you guys are all into the ultra baggy pants too, in the 90's and very early 00's that was pretty much the de facto standard "rave pants" style here in the states, the style has been slowly fading out over here over the past few years though....there are some pretty cool pants in the video though....really weird man, looks like i'm watching something that would've been shot over here in 1999 or something... |

melbourne dance is soo simple, nothing revolutionary about that dance. I was from Australia, I lived in Canberra for a year and partied there also.
The ultra baggy pants that sweeps the floor was the things for ravers back in the days. Its a must have if your a raver back then. The raver style this days is more casual and more candy than b4. Unlike B4 where its all baggy covering everything, now its more revealing... even the guys take of their shirt going half naked. the moogle dance now that's revolutionary! |

yeah man looks not much different than a chicago party circa 1998. we had alot of candy, visors, big pants, and echo though. as far as the dancing style, here in chicago we have been house stepping for a long time. some of the people in the video, especially this one chick, were basically house stepping.

yeah, the melbourne scene has become alot less to do with Phatties (the baggy rave pants) and candy, its very casual latley. As for the tops coming off.. thats at Muzza Clubs that call themselves Raves, they dont even dance with there feet, they clap their hands and wave glowstix up and down. Discust!!
House Stepping - think your referring to the move that is just like Running on the Spot kinda thing? We call that 'running man' or along those lines. from the footage ive seen of the US has been ALOT diff to what i see every weekend. could you possibly share some more recent videos? |

i've been trying to find videos myself and haven't been able to find much at all....
there's a huge massive in a couple weeks, i'm gonna' try and sneak the lil video cam in there, quality isn't the best but it should give you an idea and no, the house step is not the running man thing... |
