I know it's long, but bare with me!!!

Ok....It's 1997-2001 again...Any party, on any random weekend could EASILY pull thousands of people. It didn't matter where the party was; indoors/outdoors, it just didn't matter.
There were PLENTY of candy kids running around; ALL of whom were willing to trade candy with ANYONE they came in contact with...

People went all out with their outfits...
I hate to say this, but the majority of people in the room were rolling, which obviously added SOOOO much to the amazing vibe that was already in place.
You could easily make 50 friends in any one night. You could walk up to a random group of people and sit down like you'd known them for years.
The vibes at parties were amazing. The rooms were darker and glowsticks were everywhere.

And in the morning, on the drive home, you felt that you had just been a part of something beautiful, and you knew that everyone who left that party felt the same...

Fast forward to 2005....DEFINITELY an improvement from 2002-2004, BUT still nothing like before.

Parties are plentiful, but are lucky to pull a thousand. There are people who still go all out with their outfits and candy, but let's face it, A LOT of people just look at you like you're crazy; even if you just say hi to a random person, most of them aren't too friendly.
Not that this is the important thing, but I would say there are more people at raves now that AREN'T rolling, than those who are. And, let's be serious, that has something to do with the "vibe" for a lot of people.
The lights are too bright at a lot of parties, and there are a lot of people that don't dance!
It's just not the same, I'm sure we all can agree on that...

So, here's my point:
Where have all the ravers gone? Think about it, everyone that was around before has grown up and most have moved on, BUT, shouldn't there be a new generation of ravers? Where are the new kids? In my opinion, if there were more people at parties, the vibe would be better, and eventually, with all the new, *excited* faces, we could probably get somewhere near what the rave scene was at it's peak...
I guess that's what I'm searching for...

agreed,

I love your mention of the lights getting to brite!!

I hate that!!

I have worked only lasers at so many parties where I personally went and unplugged lights throughout the night. I also have seen light jockeys turn on all the lights and flood the building with light making kids think the party was over the house lights seemed to be on. It is lame.

I think minimal lights and hardcore lasers is the way.

Exactly!!! For example, I know TAO is a big ass deal, and maybe they have to have it that bright in there for legal reasons or some shit because of so many people...But, damn, that's all I kept thinking that night was it was TOO DAMN BRIGHT! The main room was bright, the DnB was bright, it was just too much light....
More lasers...Other than that, it should be totally dark!

Yeah...Things might never be that way again, but it's also said that history repeats itself...
I think 2005 has pointed us in the right direction...
Whether it's the same vibe of those days, or a new one that's just as good, I don't care....
I just think we all need something along the lines of what the scene is REALLY supposed to be like....

Yeah, there are definitely still alot of people from that "era" in the scene...
But, seriously, most of them aren't. In fact, I personally know people from that time that just aren't into anymore because "it's not the same". I'm talking my REALLY close group of friends...
Which SUCKS for me because I'm just getting into it and they're all over it. That's the reason I don't make it out to too many parties...
Anyway, there are some of you still around, but most of them aren't....

You, that's very true, because for the last couple of months, I've noticed on all the boards that I've seen a lot of post from people who "have been out of the scene for 3-4 years" or who's "last party was in 2002 or 2003"....
You're right about that one.....A lot of the old school heads are surfacing.
Maybe something good will come of it..

You're right! After raving for 5 years straight (97-02) me and my friends needed a long break. Anyways a lot of us are getting together and try to put an old school rave together. You can check it out if you want. If feel a good vibe coming out of this meeting.
