Re: What fascinates you?

Hmm ... great question, alot of things ... well Music first and foremost, and the things Humans can't perceive like perhaps ghosts or maybe unseen universes or energies or whatever no one knows. Like many others, humans and mostly their motivations and interactions and the mind OOH the mind's a big one like psychokinesis or the things the mind is capable of or things it does etc. Um the idea of God or an ultimate intelligent being, I am a dedicated christian myself but I still wonder about that stuff. um the affective quality of stuff, like how things affect human behavior/comprehension/thinking etc. from anything like a slight breeze to a major event I often wonder what would happen if something was even the slightest bit different or perhaps the potential us humans do not really take advantage of and what we could be. Nature and how it all works and communicates, I believe there is one conciousness all things share and communicate with eachother somehow, like trees communicating with other trees around the world but we can't sense it bc we are too fast or they are too fast. oh and mushroom clouds haha they're awesome.

OK SORRY FOR MAKING IT SO LONG lol

Those two books and their ideas fascinate me, I've never heard anything like them before. The book itself isn't written very well, but the ideas blow my mind.
yes to the celestine prophecy! good read, have u heard of "Breaking Open the Head" by daniel pinchbeck? i've plugged this book here before, but it deals with a person's finding of spirituality through the use of assorted entheogens. not just an "i took mushrooms and saw god" type deal, but he goes a lot deeper... fascinating read, a lot of which i agree with and a lot of which is jumping to conclusions but i think u might get a kick out of it....

Ah yes, Journey of the Wounded Healer.
You've been to COSM?

Dude, that is awesome! COSM = AWSM.

I've wanted to go, but rarely have the time/money.

How is it?

I've been there quite a few times, i'm in New York every summer to visit family, its only a twenty minute train ride, 10 minute walk down 27th. Pretty sweet. If you get a chance to go be sure to attend a gathering at COSM, there are so many different one's with guest speakers and artists, i went to a philosophical talk on Neolithic Shamanism and another on the spiritual use of Entheogens. COSM is working to move it to the upper east side where more art galleries are, but real estate there is very expensive. All of the walls were hand carved/sculpted when cosm was made and will have to be re made at the new place, there is a tight club downstairs as well. Tons of fun!

I'll check it out! You should read Robert Anton Wilson, too then. Especially Cosmic Trigger...I don't want to blow it, but once you pick it up, it's hard to put down. Especially if you are the psychonaut type. I give him credit, too...he's not just some one who does 40 tabs a weekend and goes "omg god!" thing, either.

And you should definitely get the Tenth Insight, I can let you let you borrow mine when I'm done..I think it has as much, if not more meaning than the Celestine Prophecy.

Yay for Books!

hoorah for books indeed!! i'd say i'll try and rent cosmic trigger from the library, but i have an $86 late fee from the library (don't ask...)

and i am definately the psychonaut type. we should exchange books when i get Breaking Open the Head back from my friend i loaned it to. i blew through it in a week and she's still working on it 2 months later.. *rolls eyes*

hey people! this thread has been great, im def going to read the celestine prophecy and cosmic trigger, thx people

something that really fascinates me is STORIES. aren't stories great? i studied stories in college and am really turned on to how they reproduce human experience into the viewer of the art

also, i find it really interesting that so much of our fiction is based on conflict. really, no one gets interested in a story unless there's something that can or potentially can go wrong. it really makes u aware of how problem-focused our society is

also i'm fascinated by how we can't even get emotionally involved unless we identify with a character, n then we ONLY experience emotion through those characters we've developed relate-ability with

i love how a story-weaver can impact a person's mood, and really their entire perspective, with just a few tools and a whole lot of imagination. i'm really interested in how stories can impact who we are, how we see our selves, and how we'll form decisions in the future

explore on, everybody!
