i eat so much.....how does it all fit in my stomach!?!?!?!?!
lol i know my stomach expands...just thinks its funny. um....im REALLY curious how music first started. like...did a caveman bang sticks on a rock and say..."ooooo beat beat! woo!" and then other cavemen started that as well? did it develop into other sounds once other types of stones were banged with different types of wood? or stones on stone? did they use animal hair for string and make instruments that are still here today? when the metal age came, how did that factor in? music, thousands of years ago...imagine....so simple....yet look at it today...

Right now I find Foucault very interesting. Out of all the philosophers and historians I've been studying this year, Foucault is one of the most interesting. He talks about how the history of dealing with madness, that is, the mentally unstable, has led to today's disciplinary society through the establishment of correctional institutions like the prison and insane asylums. He also talks about how there is no specific truth other than a society's descriptions of things-- a new discovery is simply a new description of an already existing object.
I guess I can be pretty existential about things. lately I've been in a bit of a rut because my mind keeps snapping back to that fact that time is running out and that I will die. That one day, today will be in the past and I'm wasting time and I will die. It's fascinating and depressing.

Hmmm I have a lot of strange interests.
Besides a lot of the previously mentioned stuff my main interests are politics and social movements. I watch a lot of C-Span (Book TV). I plan on doing a political thread but I need lots and lots of time because I have a whole shitload of interesting stuff to throw out there for discussion. I am also really into money, not in the way you would think though. I am very interested in the benefits / drawbacks of the various economic systems, things like distribution of wealth, and I am VERY interested in taxes. You know...whole societies have risen and fallen due to taxation. Hell...the entire BASIS of our Constitution was to eliminate taxation without representation. If fact I was just watching something today about the Great Compression in the 70's...crazy shit. This may seem awfully boring but if you pay attention to these things you really begin to clearly understand all of the things that go on in our society (such as modern racism - which is rampant ). My other big interest is language, which ties VERY closely into my interest in music. I'm talking about the use of words and how they effect people. I also like seeing how language has evolved and changed such as comparing old poetry to flow structures (rapping). I also like to listen to people talk and pick out characteristics of their personality. A good example would be someone who is a very logical, cranial, type would say something like "I think we should go to the movies today." Whereas someone who is more of the instinctual type would say something like "I feel like going to the movies today." Two VERY different ways of getting the same point across. In fact, what got me into DJ'ing in the first place was that I was studying script writing and story structure in class. Basically what I have been secretly working on for the last three or four years is to take those story structure concepts (i.e. conflict, resolution, ect) and apply them to EDM. Thats also why I like spinning Hardcore because I can find a greater contrast between happy and dark songs so it's more interesting to work with (plus I like it fast). Thats why I also proclaim that DJing is not an instrument but rather another form of writing. Its like I explained to Rogue...a record is a word, a set is a sentence. *Quick side note* Even though I am not a math guy I am fascinated by it in that it truly is a universal language (no matter what you speak 1 is still 1 and 2 is still 2 right?) Binary language, of course, is the fruition of that. So yea...there it is I guess. Oh yea!! Cheese and wine too.

that totally inspired me to want to delve into my interests and learn everything i can about them. i get this feeling that anything can b made to feel fascinating if you can find the fascinating aspects of it, and i think ur point on taxes just proved that perfectly great times |
