If you would have done your homework, youd see that president obama has very little political experience in contrast to the other former candidates and to other presidents in history, and you wouldnt question the OP's motives for this thread.
We are, however, in a time of desperation and we are seeking a change from the shithole we've gotten ourselves into, and sometimes radical changes to regularity is what is needed.
Whoever said nothing was impossible never tried to slam a revolving door.

Overall presidents have been failures so if Obama fails as a president it wouldnt suprise me...its more so about the hope the president instills into people. if u really think about it JFK was shit for a pres (bay of pigs etc...) but it was the hope he gave people that propelled changed. One man cannot change the world, however, one man can influence the mass to do so themselves. The simple fact that Obama's campaign prompted "change" is a revolutionary idea within itself, even if he doesn't do shit else as a pres...
idk this is a really in depth idea...it would take me a while to explain every aspect in depth but thats just as synopsis of how i feel

It doesn't really affect us in California. We rave every fucking weekend!!!!
And as far as obama not having experience, that is a moot point now because his CABINET/STAFF is full of HIGHLY experienced intellectuals. Imagine being surrounded and briefed with these members EVERY FUCKING DAY.
You will see this man make changes that you've never dreamed were possible. There is no more opposition in congress that prevents him from passing RADICAL LEGISLATION.
For the past 8 years, democrats needed to COMPROMISE GREATLY with conservatives and pass SEMI-progressive legislation. (Very inefficient in my book) They always had to GIVE UP some progressiveness to appease the republicans, and sometimes legislation went very conservative.
Now, congress doesn't need to compromise anymore. They can take their 100% progressive legislation and not reduce it to a piece of shit useless bill to appease conservatives. Hopefully Obama says FUCK YOU to all the previous bush-puppeteers and goes full steam ahead reversing all the bull shit done in the past years.
fuck political experience.... politics is essentially mental masturbation. Obama's education impresses me. I'm tired of having businessmen as presidents. I mean a former civil rights attorney with a background in constitutional law? come on thats not hopeful?? A former college professor? That comforts me in some way. However, I am not saying that he is not in washington right now playing the game... but if i ever had the lucky chance of meeting him i would tell to just not give a fuck... please obama piss off the left, right, and whatever nutjob is in between. But in all seriousness, if any of you actually get politics... we have a new player in the game.
Smart Ravers choose House
Hate to rain on your guys' parade BUT Obama is one of the reasons we're in this recession. He and other key Democratic officials (not to say Reps didn't play a role but it was overwhelmingly Dems who did this) pushed for the banks to give loans to people who essentially could not afford them. They did this under the guise of giving "underprivileged" people/families the "right to own a house", as Democrats apparently like to make everything a "right" these days.
Some of the banks realized they could make more money by giving these loans but knew there were huge risks for doing so. They lobbied politicians to ensure that if their bank were to get into financial trouble because of these loans that the government would "bail them out". Chris Dodd appeared to have received the most (I believe he is the head of the senate banking committee or some equivalent), Obama had the 2nd most (and remember he had only been in the Senate for a few years at this point), and others like Barney Frank and Hillary Clinton were up near the top as well.
The problem that occurred, however, was that way too many loans were being defaulted on at the same time and thus Congress realized it didn't have enough money to save *all* of the banks. They bailed out a couple in the beginning but when everything really came crashing down they realized our economy was fucked. Congress doesn't like bailing banks out because that would otherwise be their money to spend. They still did the $850 billion "bail out" legislation (although how much of it is going to buying troubled assets is unknown by anyone other than the banks, Congress doesn't even know...) but no amount of taxpayer money would really be able to fix this mess.
Lobbying sucks. Obama is just another politician who takes lobbyist money and represents special interests.
To be honest I believe one of the main reasons he ended up as the Democratic front-runner was because of his race. Don't get me wrong he is well-spoken and seems like a good guy BUT you don't go from being one of the most inexperienced Senators to being President within a few years unless you have some major political backing. How and why and from where did he get this political backing? The Democratic Party realized in this day and age that we are overdue for a black President and there was no guarantee that next election the Republicans couldn't produce a black candidate who could possibly beat whatever candidate the Democrats produced. If the Republicans had gotten a black President in the White House before the Dems it would be a HUGE hit to the Democratic Party, who have always held that they are the part of Civil Rights.
Realizing this risk the Democratic Party and the media (having a natural liberal bias) pushed Obama onto the level of Hillary Clinton. This way the Dems had a good chance of having either the first Woman or black President. Obama won and obviously now owes a whole hell lot of people a lot of favors.
Don't get me wrong I'm not a Republican. John McCain and Sarah Palin were a joke of a ticket and thus neither party got my vote. Obama does seem like a good husband, father, and person in general. He does seem smart but I'd say is tainted by his somewhat socialistic education. His positions on civil rights and foreign policy seem to be pretty good but holy hell his view on economics are laughable. Unfortunately right now the economy is considered by many to be the most important issue so I suppose we'll all see where this thing goes. I'm willing to give him a chance but in general increases in government spending (especially with such a large deficit) have done very little historically to improve the economy.
I am glad though that he has pledged to close down Gitmo. If that place isn't a PR disaster then I don't know what is. According to reports he is either going to transfer the inmates to other prisons (such as the Gitmo equivalent in Afghanistan) or, according to Obama himself, set up some sort of military tribunals whereby the inmates get a trial.
I know Iran is waiting to see if Obama will scale down our domination (negative connotation here) of the Middle East. It'll be interesting to see if Obama keeps supporting Israel as other Presidents have. AIPAC is the 2nd most powerful lobbying group so don't be surprised if nothing changes.
