Omfg. I go to sleep and you people have a political discussion without me? Rogue, how could you?!
Voting should not be mandatory, it should be a choice and everyone should have the choice to make it. a) when you force people to vote, whether you educate them or not, they'll still make uneducated choices because they dont care. You cant force people to care about politics, thats something that happens when people are abused to the point that they want to put an end to whatever is crippling thier lifestyle. (there's a spider in the corner, it isnt bothering you, you usually leave it be, but if its on your arm, youre flailing around like crazy.) b) In America - for example - voting is a right. Thats what makes our country awesome. And i dont believe that whole 'if you dont vote, keep your opinions to yourself,' because again .. this is America, and we've earned our right not to vote if we dont want to. c) i wish i wasnt so brain-dead tired right now. Can you all just .. i donno .. pause this discussion? :P |

i didn't mean that they can't discuss their opinion...but if they bitch and whine about how messed up the system is? its just obnoxious if they're someone who doesn't take the time to do the little things they can do to help fix it.

roflcopter.
That is a very strong accusation to make my friend, especially when we have the three girls one bed thread floating around on the main page. what is YOUR opinion on the matter? is it idiotic because you see the answer to the question so painfully obvious that you can't see anyone having any other opinion? |

It's a romantic idea, but in a country with as many complex and flawed voting laws s ours .. one person really doesnt matter. You cant really make a difference unless you get national attention. But .. it's nice to think that our freedoms are worthy. |

even better if you're in a swing state. but pico, just because the system is flawed doesn't mean we should just conform to it; let's all be revolutionaries for once! then again, i guess that's just my romantic ideals speaking *shrug* oh well. |

Our voting system is flawed. No news there. Electoral College? We need to get rid of that completely. How long have our voting laws been screwed up? Quite a while, and it's evident that nobody is doing anything to fix them. Maybe if word got out that change needs to happen - ENOUGH people will get with the program somewhere and elect a 'good guy' to high government. He'll put in a bill of ub3r-changeness, and things will be fine and dandy again. |
