San Fernando Valley Hookah

So I smoked for about 5 years and before I quit smoking, I was around a pack and a half to two packs a day, stopped cold turkey and haven't touched one since. (I'm weak-willed, so I may not have smoked for a VERY long time, but I'm still proud.)

I decided for my one year anniversary of not smoking, I wanted to treat myself and just smoke a shitload of hookah, but the only places I know by me suck. The place is horribly ventilated, the hookahs sucks, bad service, bad music, not comfortable, etc.

I've seen a couple people on here who were very knowledgable of proper hookah etiquette and was wondering if anyone knew of some awesome places in SFV that is way chill, good smoke and would be a perfect reward for quitting my terrible habit.

My girl would be going with me and she has never smoked from one before, so I need to make a good impression. =)

yes!! those are the good ones. The Spot is on Ventura and White Oak, I believe. Its a bit hidden in a huge strip mall (theres a Daphne's and a Chillis and a sushi restaurant). It tends to get REALLY busy though, but I like that it's outdoors and it stays open late. Their food is also decent. They play some dance music (not a dj or anything, but its like the only place that ive seen them actually play some dance.. trance mostly... they also play middle eastern music a lot (im not middle eastern, but i love the music!) and some hip hop.

The hookah source.. if its the one that i think it is, its pretty chill also (is it the one where you go underground?). THis one is more laid back with pool tables, etc. They've had djs a couple of time i went playing hip hop. Not like a club or anything though....


Whatever you do, don't go to Blue Cafe (its called something like that... It has "blue" in its name).. It's also on Ventura near Taft High School.. the service is horrendous!!! The owners are straight out RUDE. Their policies are ridiculous which some I understand, however, the ways they are implemented completely SUCK!! they are beyond rude! Their hookah selection is decent though. Ive given them a couple of chances and I was disappointed EACH time. There are also a lot of High School kids (you know, the spoiled valley kind...) that go there a lot cause they never card them (the spot cards sometimes.. i think they are doing it more now, though)

The only place I go to is Ocean. It's on Devonshire, west of Balboa in Granada Hills. (borderline North Hills)

The owner, Hafif, used to run Sahara Cafe (later called Good Earth Cafe) on Nordhoff 8 years ago ALL BY HIMSELF AND ONE WAITER. Then he moved over and ran Atlantis in NoHo on Victory and made an even better name for himself because of his impeccable hookah's and hospitable service.

Now he his own place called Ocean. It's always alive and kicking man, and the hookah's and food are always top notch. If you go on a friday or saturday, there's always loud middle-eastern music playing inside, but it will never bother you, cause you're seated on a sort-of enclosed patio.

If you want to spend a little extra cash and get some amazing hookah, order it with the Starbuzz tobacco brand. Even if you don't want to spend a lot, you will get great hookah and great food (it's not mandatory to order food though).

I have been a hookah connoisseur since the year 2001, so when someone is doing something right, I spread the word.

I did it too a couple months ago cold turkey. And now I just smoke if I'm rolling really hard, but even then I don't crave it much anymore. Seriously man, congratulations, if you could kick smoking, you could kick anything else.
