Review: One Self - 03 May, 08

All i can say is .. wow. The music was off the freaking walls. The venue was alright, and the people were generally pretty cool. The vibe during the whole party was happy and upbeat.

The main room had "please bend me over and fuck me hardcore" playing the whole time. It was like giving house some viagra, shooting it up with a little bit of dnb, shaping it into a ball .. and throwing it at the huge loudspeaker ceiling to shatter in a million pieces and the hundreds of ravers dancing under it get showered with hours of house sex.

The next room was playing the best acid house ive ever heard in a good minute. One complaint was the rather limited size of the dance area, as well as it being a throughput for the bathroom/food traffic to the downstairs area.

Just an all around awesome party.

It was cool meeting the lot of you - Rogue, themessenger, brook(sp?), everyone else i missed - youll have to excuse my bad memory, i cant match names w/faces.

That's great news, sir. Your description of the music was rather poignant, especially so early in the morning. I've always struggled describing a rave in writing, it's just such a sensory overload that it becomes so disorienting whenever I even consider writing, but you crystallized it perfectly.

The party was sick. I had to leave early but for the few hours i was there it was bomb.

I hadn't heard of the crew that threw it (Leone Entertainment) but I'll definitely keep my eye out for future parties

I dont get a chance to go to parties every weekend, and its rare for me to find a really great party when i do get out .. so i tried to take in as much as i could last night and dance my ass off

i was considering it, but i'm the type of guy that (unless it's a massive or something super special to me) doesn't ever know if he's going ahead of time, they said it had a small capacity so the night of i just figured screw it, this thing is most likely at capacity

so, were they still letting people in, did it feel crowded or not crowded?

I cant speak for the whole night (i wasnt guarding the gate,) but they were selling tickets until at least 1030pm.

The place wasnt too packed, i'd say there were a healthy number of people there. Some areas for crowded because of bottlenecking the throughways .. small corridors and ravers dont mix.

More places to sit would have been nice.

Another thing i noticed were that there werent all that many cuddle puddles - if any really. Everybody on the main dancefloor was dancing.

One Self was amazing! I was actually really surprised by how much fun I had. The DJs were a lot of fun. The people were awesome. The venue was super chill. I had a great time with all my friends!!! I'm so glad I decided to go.
