PENDULUM's New Album

fucking tears us all a new asshole
and causes our bodies to generate a new set of ears.
I know that many of you DnB heads may dislike Pendulum's
direction; I've heard many say that the whole "jump up"
thing is too mainstream, or that Pendulum is just
too overplayed by DJ's.

The new album is called - IN SILICO

Well. Fuck the unfair judgment upon these crazy Aussies.
Here's why:
I am a musician, and have been for many years. I recognize good
musicianship when I see/hear it, and Pendulum breaks
down so many boundaries and smears together so many
genre-related ideas, that it actually makes me really fucking JEALOUS.
They have been known primarily for their DnB - that being
a subgenre of "electronic", right?
But these guys are accomplished musicians, themselves. They
often play their sets LIVE, with an entire band.
IN SILICO has taken the use of real instruments,
expertly sewn together with their characteristic big electronic sound,
and created a beautiful masterpiece
that again - I am very fucking jealous of.
Do yourselves a favor, and at least give it a listen!

Anyone out there with me on this? Pendulum fans?

You should remove that DnB out of your favorite music, If you knew half the journey from jungle to Dnb to PENDULUM you would give respect.. cause respect has been earned by these CATS.. but you probable seen a blog about other hating on PENDULUM and decided to jump on their boat.. Keep an open mind and a pair of open ears and take a step into the future.

ive always respected pendulums producing skills. but to say about their sets. eh. i saw em at EDC last year and to my great disappointment, it sounded like a cd of their songs were being played. but i still think they are great producers and i still like some of their jams.

i cant hate on those who brought me into DnB in the first place. may not be the same for others but for me these guys are legit.

as for the new album, i have not heard it and need to soon.

im sorry son but what you heard at EDC last year was NOT pendulum. it was El Hornet, ONE of the guys spinning some drum n bass. THAT is not pendulum, that is insomniac falsely selling you a brand name. a cd of their songs being played? wtf were you on, he barely played ANY pendulum songs at all. after 30 mins he had played 1 track and i walked away. when i saw him at funktion he only played 3-4 songs. its bullshit. im going to see the producers known as pendulum perform their songs. not to listen to some random dude spinning dnb for an hour and a half.

that said, i have not been able to find a copy of the new cd yet, BUT i did get to hear it performed live and i loved it. the entire front half of the tent at coachella turned into a crazy dance/mosh pit. i had so much fucking fun i was still laughing my ass off with joy after it was over. the songs sounded AMAZING live. i love the vocal effects that the keyboardists uses over his voice, and the live instruments just make it that much better. i dont really consider them a full blown drum n bass group anymore, but thats like saying Prodigy isnt a breaks/edm group anymore. as an electronic group they rock. simple as that.

there does seem to be a bandwagon of hating on them because their songs got overplayed at raves, but who gives a fuck. they got overplayed because they were fucking awesome. hold your color was probably the best produced dnb album ever made. hell one of the best EDM cds ever made. its easy for non dnb fans to pickup listen to and enjoy...hell its easy for people that arnt heavily into EDM at all to pick up and enjoy. and thats what makes them so great. they are universal. true DNB heads (i laugh at this even being a term) hate on them because they turned dnb into such a mainstream thing and took the dark eliteness that it once held away from it. yall just hataz

Pendulum are some serious master producers, thats for sure.

I don't listen to their stuff on my own usually. Why? Simply because ive heard the songs over a thousand times.... each.

It's somewhat of an Eminem/Dr.Dre phenomenon, just in drum and bass terms. Totally blown into the mainstream instantly, and the production value is absolutely off the hook, but real fans won't stick around for long simply because there's not too much variety to go around.

Pendulum Live is an awesome act and they are some real musicians.
I didn't like their new CD, compared to Hold your Colour at least.
(which i now cant even listen to, EVER, simply because it was overplayed. its totally not fair but thats how it works.... actually I can still listen to Fasten Your Seatbelt and Another Planet, but nothing else.)

I swear if I hear Slam one more time in my life Im going to blow my face off with a shotgun.

i dont think you understood what i was saying, so let me rephrase, pendulum had their time, and the new album proves that time is no longer. RIP good pendulum tunes, you will remain in our rave memories forever.

What you said in the first post and this next one.. sound pretty much like the same, ALL I SAY IS KEEP AN OPEN MIND. Its so typical for a group to get their fame and next thing you know the ones who choose to "KEEP IT REAL" begin to judge the quality of their work. Which I believe is Bullshit. I think talent should be respected by its Talent and not because of the fame they picked up! imo
