motorcycles!!! boss maybe you can help

so i currently drive a money pit. Its a 03 mach 1 mustang and it has a high performance v-8 in it (same motor as the cobras) and im contemplating selling it and buying a street bike (kawasaki zx6r). Anyone have any experiences with bikes seeing as how this will be my first bike or any tips on my current situation. Im new to it all and just lookin for some infoo. Thanks for the help

honestly i wouldnt get rid of your car unless you have another one.. come rainy season... you're gonna be sol.... its extremly HARD to ridde in the rain, let alone a rain storm... and you'll still be anoob.. i wouldnt do it.. like i said unless you have another car as back up

self explanatory, get a fz6r or a ninja 650r or a sv650

i wouldnt want anything more than 650cc.....anything else would just be to much bike for me as it would be my first bike ever.......i think a 600-650 would be a good bike to learn on........as for needin another car....ive takin that into concideration and my family is full of cars so if i ever needed one that wouldnt be a problem....plus my gf just got a DUI so she wont be driving her car for atleast a year so if i really needed somethin i could just borrow hers for the night or time being. And if the market keeps goin like it does ill just buy a 98 civic and have my bike as well. Its all still an idea and im toyin with the expenses right now but i have a strong feeling this will become a reality.

they put out almost 1.5-2x the amount of power that the fz6/sv/650r put out, they're worse on gas, and you'll pay more for insurance.

and on top of that where it counts they can keep up with the supersports.

i ride an 07 ninja 650r, there's a decent amount of aftermarket for them and people are starting to turbo them, with the turbo they'll put out about 125 hp

i like the 06-08 650r, i think the 09 650r is hideous, but it's supposed to be a "better" bike, still a killer bike for the price range etc, i get about 50 mpg out of it if i just cruise, the great thing about it is that it produces more midrange than the super sports so it performs exceptionally well at the 50-100 range.

the sv650 is the closest competitor to the 650r, i prefer the look and feel of the 650r more, the fz6r is yamaha's answer to the sv and 650r, it's in place of the yzf600r which was going to my bike but no-one carried them and it's carb'd.

good info here. If you're mainly looking for saving money, gas, insurance, and you don't want to get too crazy stick with one of those on the first list. I personally like the sv650. If you get into the supersports like mine(the second list Mayhem has), and your gas mileage goes down, insurance goes up, and repairs get a little pricier.

As far as a car goes, I would seriously hold off on selling yours until you really get a feel for the bike, and decide it's really something you want to stick with. I don't think it's about having a backup for groceries, or for rainy days, but more of figuring out how commited you are. I know of a few people who couldn't get any more excited about getting a bike, and couldn't wait until they got one. But after a week of riding they just gave it all up and decided they didn't like it after all.

But most importantly....TAKE THE DAMN CLASS!! Safest thing you could do.

to be honest there's no reason to have a supersport unless you're

a) a squid

or b) looking to outrun the cops

the "middle-weights" are well capable of surpassing the speed limit to such degree that you'll lose your bike instantly if you're caught.

it just logically doesn't make sense to own a supersport for regular day to day riding, they're expensive, bring unwanted attention to you and a hair more dangerous (especially for new riders)

indeed the MSF class is very important but also sportsbikes are fun and safe as long as you are careful. i personally own a gsxr-750 and have no problem with insurance or gas still 40+ mpg on the freeway. and about the car dont sell it theres alot of situations that require you to drive instead of ride a bike but thats my 2 cents..

I wouldn't give up a car for a bike only, bike only is seriously HARD CORE SHIT.

Sell your car and get a bike listed, used SV650s are in abundance, and a crappy car that gets good mileage.
