Joining the Military with A Waver (not a raver)

Lately I have been thinking about my life and the other day I thought about joining the military. Today I talked to an army recruiter and he said that it might be possible to join the army but they want to do a background check. I told him that I have a drug charge on my record and he wanted to know which drug I was charged for being on...

Anyway I'm supposed to be at the recruitment center between 3 and 4. Wish me luck. I hope I can get by with that waver.

lol, i tried doing the same thing buddy. i was on probation for a dui and was down on my luck at the time. recruiter told me since I had finished paying off the court fees i should be off probation and allowed to sign up! well, that was bullshit. I'm grateful now to have that time to realize "wow, joining the military would have been a really stupid choice for me." So now I straightened my shit out on my own without the need for an ego-inflated R. Lee Ermey type screaming down my my esophagus and I get to sleep in past 5am...

idk what yall are talkin about , joining the MARINES was the best shit Ive ever dun and wish I was still able to be Active Duty , even though the BS getz old its well worth it, the job opportunities going to college and getting paid 1300bux a month just to show up for class , thatz fuckin cash in yo pocket

Went to the recruiter and they said there is a chance... but it's a long shot because there is some stuff in my history that the military frowns upon. They're going to do a background check on Monday because the place that does background checks was already closed.

Yea I heard they are crackin down on who they let enlist, I know now with the marines, you cant have any tattoos , which is BS cause being in the millitary is all about getting tatted up in each country you deploy or visit ... Im glad I was in japan before it got put on lockdown slave status, we would go all wk end started fri. 1600 till mon. 0500 out in town fuckin whores and bargirls never goin back to base, just getttin back intime to shower, throw on either flight suits, coverallz or norm uniforms n get to our shopz .... man the good ol' dayz

Ummm.......well, seeings how i'm currently in the gulf right now (Arabian Gulf) i think i can let you know whats up. Marines and Air Force won't take you, unless you have a High School Diploma and not a record. The army and navy are a little more lax on what you have. If it happened to you before you were 18 then it shouldn't be on your record. Although, you will probably hate life in the army, just letting you know, but i will say, it's a steady paycheck, and you will meet some of the coolest people in your life during your enlistment, but it's barely all fun and games

IF your not, then dont. youll end up hating life and your chain of command will probably look down on you like your a shitbag OR you'll just be emo a lot.

im still in the army right now, as a matter of fact, in iraq right now.

ill tell u the pros/cons about the army

pros:
1. steady paycheck
2. holidays off
3. free chow(if ur single)
4. extra paycheck(if ur married)
5. gain rank easily and faster than any other branch in the military
6. the ACU uniform is pretty niiiiiice!
7. hella good benifts (Tricare w/ everything if ur ACTIVE DUTY)
8. GI Bill (if ur going to school after the military)
9. Basic Training is fucking good times(youll look back on the days you got smoked and laugh, trust me)

cons:

5. waking up early (its not so bad once u get used to it)

tips before you decide to join:
1. have the most fun you can w/ all your friends and your family
2. take lots of pictures for memories
3. do drugs(before you actually leave to basic, they wont test you once you get there)
4. KIT w/ ppl because it will be hard to when your in the military
