Here's the problem

I have a dell laptop

But really here's what's wrong:

right clicking pops up that lil option/properties window but it quickly closes right away... sometimes it'll stay open long enough for me to click 'open' but that's totally random and i can only cross my fingers.

left clicking on icons will open up the 'properties' window rather than opening that application...

left clicking on websites/links/url automatically becomes "dowload/save as" it'll save whatever im clikcin on into a html or similar file... in my dowload manager for FF.

whenever i open an application, the top right 'file' tab would be highlighted... as if im clicking it, but my mouse is no where near. whenever it's highlighted i cannot type... trying to type would get an error beep.

i cannot type... typing the first letter like "f" opens up the file tab, "v" opens up the view tab, etc. i cannot complete a word.

clicking the start tab, lower left, opens the tab briefly but it'll close... i have to time it right to be able to open and shut down my computer... it sucks.

i've resort to just right click > open to acess any of my files/websites. but i can't do anything else other than open.

scrolling doesn't work.

somtimes it works like normal, but then it'll go back to the above problems.

pressing 'delete' sometimes give me back left/right click function, but this isn't dependable.

my computer science friend tried to reformat and all that junk, the problem resurfaced. so... maybe it's the motherboard?

any tips/advice????

if i need a new motherboard... should i just scrap the lappy? or install a new board?

if you need more details get at me, lol i can only type when im at work on the slow mac =[.

sounds like a sticky key problem... or something

try going to the mouse configurations in the control panel and see what you can mess with... also check out the keyboard config in the control panel to see if you can remedy yourself.... sounds like a simple setting adjustment.

usually rebooting fixes this issue..... so i'm not sure it could be a sticky key issue (who ever designed sticky keys meeds to be shot!!)

i also thought it was a key board problem, tried using an external keyboard didn't work. tried using the handicap virtual on screeen keyboard didn't work.

i've reformated my computer completely, reinstalled OS, etc. problem resurfaced.

then, a few weeks ago, my friend was playing around with it and he saw the file highlighted, so he opened a new file and voila it was working fine till this week.

idk what's wrong =[

before this, i could kindda use it to browse the net and such but now it's such a pain.

compaq computers are sooo easy to fix... for anything all i do is push the wonderful f10 or f9 button at startup to do a system restore and remedy most of the problems. as for dell... i own a dell and its a dope ass computer... and i got my compy and a 24" screen for $700! my dell works good, and also because i prolly maintain it well. as for the customer service... i never deal with that shit, i got my cronny co-workers to that for me, haha, i tell them whats wrong and they call the manufactures, and after like an hour on the phone they come up with the same explanation as i did.

as for vo... hearing that u reformatted ur compy and the problem persisted is not a good sign... not good at all. if your shit still gots warranty that could be the easy way out... other than that its hard to work with cause its a laptop.

compaqs can be easy to fix.. but very easy to break too!! >.<

I dont know exactly what youre problem is, but ive run into something similar before.

My advice from now on: use comodo firewall, and firefox, make sure you have anti-virus protection.

As fro the problem, i can help you if you [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], that way i can remotely fix your problem.

Lemme know.

I know what your problem is...but im not going to tell you....

no im kidding, its your mb. assuming your friend did a FULL format - a FULL LONG format...not the short one.

dells are pretty good - there are only 5 laptop producers in the world...bet you didnt know that!....all 5 use similar parts and just re-case them for bigger companies like Dell, Sony, Toshiba, etc....dell has a killer warranty....go with them

All you alienware freaks - just so you know your laptop is a Sager same with all you other custom computer geeks....I hope that pretty case was worth 2000 bucks to you
