Yeah this is about GLOW.
This is only my opinion about the show and I cannot speak for any other DJ there. Was it unorganized for the most part? YES. Was it difficult to get a timeslot? YES. Did the promoter make promises on the flyer that wasn't kept? From what I heard and saw...YES. Was it a good time however? YES. I am not the type of DJ who goes online and talks shit about when promoters do me wrong. Why bother. Karma is a bitch. I could possible talk shit about a lot of promoters in the LA scene...but what would that solve. I would rather deal with the situation directly and treat it like that. My business affairs don't really concern the average raver and me not getting paid isn't likely to affect their good time or not. I don't really live off the rave scene these days so if people don't take care of me I just don't spin for them again. It is pretty simple. GLOW was a unorganized party that somehow pulled things off at the end and was a very good time for a lot of people. Were there some pissed off people. Yeah. I know Sean from Dirty Deeds was pissed (and I don't blame him). I know that Kristina Sky left the party without playing. I guess I was a lucky one. I got a deposit about a month and half ago, I got paid the rest before I went on to spin. And I got to spin for almost 2 hours in a warehouse with a sick vibe and great sound system. To be honest. The rave scene is a unorganized mess in some respects. Drama, Bullshit, back stabs. How is that PLUR at all? So if you ask me...if you love the rave scene. DON'T GET INVOLVED!! LOL Just enjoy it. I try to these days. I try to take care of my business but at the end of it all, it is you guys that make the party. I am just some dude playing some music...if you weren't there then it would be me alone and that ain't no fun. And you decide what parties you go to. If it is because of the DJ's, or the promoters rep, or the style of music, or if it just because that is where your friends are going. YOU speak more loudly then anyone in the scene because it is your dollars that keep it going. Remember, if you don't want a promoter in the scene, it really is simple for you, the ravers, to make that happen. Well, I had a good time at both GTA and GLOW. Both were good in their own ways. It has been a exhausting weekend. Time to go to the studio. Hope you all have a great Sunday. |

its the very reason why i love the sf scene so much.
yeah we got small drama....definitely far less...but its the organization factor that makes business up here so much easier, and why i want to have good, trusting crews from LA sponsor a stage up there. keep it real thee-o. the most important thing for anyone on any level in this scene be it ravers, promoters, djs, crews, etc. is believing in what you believe in and that will lead you to a good time. believe that others may believe differently and that is just as valid. focus on what pushes you to go out weekend after weekend. |

90% of the dumb fuck monkeys throwing raves in this scene know nothing about business and have no business(pun intended) throwing events. they think they can keep using the same prepackaged rave in a box plan as everyone else and make bank off it, and even some fail at that as Glow clearly did. i mean seriously, it doesnt take a genius to book a venue with legitamite reason, secure permits from the city, and then work out legal contracts with your djs/lighting/sound/staff, it just takes effort. yet somewhere along the lines these people fuck it up week after week by trying to pull shady shit, or cover their asses by not giving the staff djs promotors and whatnot the contracts that they deserve, so that if the event doesnt do well, they can pull some bullshit out of their ass like 'o we didnt make profit, sorry i cant pay you'. im sorry but when your show loses money, IT LOSES JUST THAT.....MONEY! you lost money because everyone at the show needed to be paid. that money is not yours to keep, its the people who worked hard for you to receive, and yours and your investors to lose.
most these crews should just /quit life and go back to drug dealing like they started off doing ![]() |

I agree wholeheartedly. Throwing parties are a gamble. However as a DJ I am just a hired hand. I am not taking that gamble with you. PERIOD.

Speaking as an attendee, a lot of has to do with expectation as well. If yours are sky high, you will be disappointed regardless. Just go in with positive vibes and ready for a good time.

I went, Had a great time, the venue was very nice (a gentleman's club with a warehouse in the back) although i would have changed who played in which rooms, but 3 stages, party went all night, was full of good vibes, I cant say it was very organized, however i still had a great time.

Quote:
People talk about "PLUR" and throw it around. Fact of the matter is they really don't know wtf it once meant. It has become some stupid trendy shit to use like the latest fucked up raver fashion. When someone gets fed up of seeing their community being ripped off constantly and has the balls to speak up about it to others what happens? No one hears them and assumes it is just shit talk. They stand alone and are quick to be judged negatively instead of being given the benefit of the doubt. |
