I doubt the absinth i had was the kind that causes hallucination. Probably was a cheap bottle bought from Amsterdam, what I felt was just drunk X 10 lol.

i've done most of my research on what's available in the states, online

wormwood society is one of the main sites i was looking to

they rated kuebler a 4, whereas lusid was a 2.5 or something i think

have you tried either of these? if so, what is your opinion?

Absinthe can be a very fun....drunk.

When I was in Spain, I took a shot of straight or "neat" absinthe, and don't remember a fucking thing afterwards.
Apparently, I was running around, throwing myself into gates/fences in downtown Sevilla, and kept saying "Fuck Youuuuuuuuuu" to anyone who
was paying attention heheh

Natefrogg mentioned Kuebler.. That's good one.
From BevMo, you can also buy the "Absente" brand, and that one
comes pretty close to the real taste of Absinthe.

If ANY of you want to try real Absinthe, don't try to make it. I've heard nothing
but horror stories from people who've tried to make it. That isn't to say that any of you aren't capable of making something worth drinking...so don't get me wrong.

I ordered a bottle of this stuff called Edouard from a company called Jade Liquers, which is run by a Chemist who analyzed and recreated old absinthe recipes.
I have to say, the taste of wormwood in the absinthe, which was easily picked out, was actually quite good. Wormwood alone is FUCKING DISGUSTING.

The drunkenness from Absinthe is sparkly, kind of "romantic" or "poetic", and not particularly crazy. I drank a LOT of that stuff, and never hallucinated.
When mixed with some weed, though....
I wouldn't recommend ruining the subtle feelings of Absinthe by mixing it with any other psychoactive.

LOL i made Absinthe twice and its the nastiest, most horrid stuff EVER. It doesnt really work that well either. hahahaha it was sooooooooo bad.

I will find out what the good brands are right now, i havent had any since 2007. er actually thats a lie, I have some high quality brand from Czech sitting right here next to me but i havent cracked it open yet. Im waiting for a night that is worth a $170 drink looool

anything from jade is supposed to be awesome, the edouard is supposed to rock, i have read a lot about the pf 1901, would love to try that one, a bit too rich for my wallet right now though, hehe =)

haha, man that's a lot for a bottle, dang! the kuebler is so cheap at 55$/750ml, the wormwood society snobs give it good reviews but i want to try others, that stuff is so pricey though, a bar should get a bunch so you can get by the drink instead of just by the bottle =)

It's true: Jade is - hands down - the best
Absinthe you can get. The coolest thing about Jade is that the haven't limited
themselves to just one particular Absinthe style in their recreations:
they have produced a few, and they are all worth the steep price.
Edouard was completely perfect...almost too perfect...in the sense
that I expected there to be some kind of flaw, but there weren't any.
I've heard (not read) that the Nouvelle Orleans is remarkably good, as well as
the Verte Suisse. I totally have to try the PF 1901 you mentioned!

And the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I refer to is the one sold at BevMo. It isn't real absinthe:
it fits more in the category of a Pastis. Speaking of which, I have tried quite
a few different kinds of Pastis, looking for one that even came close in matching
the real Absinthe taste/quality/experience..
I have only found one that came close, and it wasn't close in taste primarily, but in the quality and experience factors. It was different, but extremely good!
