Grooverider Sentenced to Four Years

i've heard from some reliable sources that he already got a pardon.

im not 100% positive on this, but i'm guessing he just got the pardon because he's a famous musician and any average joe would have to serve out the 4 year prison sentence, because the only other pardon i've heard from this RETARDED justice system in dubai, was a canadian ambassador who had a small amount of cannabis (legal in canada) and 2 poppy seeds, the canadian government had to intervene and pardon him.

anyways, im never ever going to dubai, i've got a pad which i prefer better than their underwater hotels and i can smoke in it. i've got real slopes that are arguably better than the faux indoor ones, and i can smoke on them, and i've got a really big open dry valley in california with tons of rocks and sand that's really hot too, and i can smoke when i'm out there.

Dubai is not awsome,

it seems like a great vacation spot, if you noticed their not only building the tallest building , but the biggest amusement park, indoor skiing areas, massive stadiums,etc, but underneath it all its still fucking backwards. not that i have been there, but i have friends that have, the law is very strict as mentioned, but some laws are out of wack , there has already been a number of cases of regarding rape, if you are a rape victim and you head to the police for help you will be jailed for supposedly letting yourself be raped. theres one story were a college student was attending school in dubai and on night three men who he thought were his friends tricked him into thinking they were giving him ride home, they headed to the outskirts of the city and all three raped him, so he went to the police and they charged him with sodomy and jailed, did nothing to find the rapist and he later found out they also were HIV positive. i'll post the link when i find it.

this is why you never EVER try to sneak ANYTHING past customs. Especially in places this strict.

God I love ignorance. You do realize that there are 41 states with a mandatory minimum sentence, meaning if you get caught with anything, even shake or seeds you get a year in jail and a $1000 fine. And anything police officers may deem as paraphernalia will do the same for you. The UAE is one of the countries in the Middle East who are promoting tourism and drawing in billions and billions of dollars worth of revenue as well as building things that are way more structurally advanced than anywhere else in the world. God forbid they have strict drug laws because they want to keep their country clean. Thats one thing you have to understand the UAE is strict on drugs because they are HUGE on alcohol.

As for the rape and sodomy charges, you're thinking of Saudi Arabia which charged a woman who was raped with rape because she was alone with men. Now Saudi Arabia is a completely different story, Saudi Arabia is basically the head of the Sunni side of the Islam, they also have a reputation for being the most screwed in the head in terms of all the Arab's because of the fact that they are so non-secular.

You need to understand that it's not that Dubai (or the Middle East for that matter) is fucked up, but that people have different world views, different beliefs and different mindsets. You bash the country as being backwards yet it has been noted as one of the best crosses between the Western world and traditional Arabian culture. And if you're that much of a pothead that you need to take weed with you wherever you go then you should seriously do something with your life before bashing other countries for wanting to keep their country clean and free of drug involvement.

It's like Ron Paul said "we're building an embassy in Iraq that is bigger than the Vatican. We're building 14 permanent bases. What would we say here if China was doing this in our country or in the Gulf of Mexico? We would be objecting." Remember, the great land of America has done some fucked up things in it's time. Guantanamo Bay? Jena 6 just to name a few?

Actually, there are 18 states that have decriminalized marijuana and/or have medical marjiunana programs available, so your wrong in saying 41 have mandatory minimums.

About modern Day Imp, of course i don't agree with a lot [almost all] of decisions that my own country makes, but thats whole other story. i tried staying the topic which was dubai and its laws.
