Drum ‘n’ bass DJ sentenced to prison in Dubai



One of the most well known and respected drum n bass DJs, Grooverider – real name Raymond Bingham – is to be jailed for four years in Dubai for cannabis possession.

Known as a godfather to the drum ‘n’ bass scene, the Radio One DJ received the minimum sentence for drug possession in the popular United Arab Emirates tourism and business hub on Monday 18th February. He was originally arrested last November in Dubai Airport, when 2.16 grams of cannabis were found in his luggage, which he admitted to in court. Grooverider’s radio DJ partner Fabio will continue to host their show in his absence.

Dubai is awesome! It's a shame he was actually convicted but hey MJ is not legal, those laws in Dubai have been in place long before he set foot on his flight. Chances are he'll be extradited back to the Uk...

Any country that will throw you in jail for 4 years for not even an 8th... I'm not down. I don't care if they got the crazy indoor ski-slopes. I don't care if they have the islands shaped like the world. There is no amount of cleaning that I could do to remove all specks of weed from my person.
