Apple has NEVER, in the existence of the entire company, been known for competitive prices. Before you were born they had this reputation. If your creative broke, buy a new creative. If you fell into the iPod fad and then later decided you didn't like it, buy a new creative.

And for the record, having owned many mp3 players, I still believe that Apple puts out the greatest product, regardless of their prices. Pay the $10 and update your update, don't pay it and stick with your current software, or fucking sell it on craigslist and buy (for the 3rd time now) another creative.

1st mp3 player I had was an iriver h320 possibly the best sounding mp3 player to this day, i loved that thing best mp3 player I've ever owned its battery however sadly declined in quality

2nd mp3 player I had was a creative zen alright mp3 player nothing really special about it I forgot what broke with that one

3rd mp3 player ipod touch i hate itunes and them forcing you to use it.

Touch, that sucks. It's like a disabled iPhone. Until it got stolen, my 2nd gen iPod Nano was perfect in every single way. And as for software updates.... eh that's a touchy subject (pun). Is it a new version? Because they can (and should) charge for that. Firmware updates? That should be free. Again, my shit got ganked, so I'm behind the times on iPod software and don't know a thing about current releases.

I'm thinking about building my own home-made portable mp3 player. It'll be huge and ugly and fucking awesome. With free updates.

I used that until like 1997 on Mac OS 9.0 parallel to a power mac and it still runs buts its quite useless nowadays.
