oh man, thank you pico for making this thread.

i have a red-light camera ticket that i'm contesting, and i totally forgot about it. the court date is tomorrow!

i dont really have a case to make, i had used up my traffic school option last year, so i'm contesting it solely to extend the date in which the ticket goes on my record (it happened in november 07) and so my insurance wont get hiked (it got renewed recently, so yay).

any one have any tips for red-light tickets? any tips on what to say to fight it? i personally don't attempt to cross reds, this occurred because there was a busway road that turned yellow, and the street-light literally right after that turned yellow as well at the same time. i passed the busway no problem, but then i saw all these crazy paparazzi flashes around me when crossing the other one (this was on desoto/victory if anyone knows the valley).

it's nuts dude, they have pictures of me at every moment with radar and precise time information.

if they got you on picture...you're screwed accept for one point.

if your tires are in front of the line in the first picture....

it proves you were going through on yellow.

if the intersection did not have a sign saying it was photo enforced, then you could use that to fight the ticket.

I dont know about red light cam violations .. i once won a case a few years ago by postponing the hearings so much (asking for extensions) that when the court date came, the officer didnt recall where he put the papers regarding my case and the case was dismissed.

Try that?

Yes; i drive faster than the posted speed limit. The posted speed limit is, however, something i dont agree with.

The implementation of the speed limit is something that needs to be rethought. How fast you are allowed to go should be something based upon your skill level, not some draconian law that blankets us all.

it doesn't matter your skill level.

driving 110 on a major freeway with OTHER cars going much slower, tons of lane changes, and randomly slowing people....is dangerous.

hell ive gone 110 plenty of times....but i admit its dangerous, idiotic, and illegal.

and should be illegal on freeways until cars are made differently and people taught from the beginning for those speeds.

Yeah, it is dangerous - there's so much danger in the world that i could make just as good a point that i get to my destination faster so im out of danger's reach.

And it does matter your skill level. Our cars are designed to be safe - its the few idiots out there that drive beyond thier driving ability that ruin it for everybody.

I could reference germany and thier driving laws, but thier situation is so well known i dont need to go elaborate.

LOL Pico, I'm fighting the same two tickets but in different order.

I just went in for arraignment on my alcohol in a prohibited area yesterday, court date is 9/28

I just picked up a speeding ticket on Sunday, I'm gonna fight that one too.

i agree that speeds excess of 100 are dangerous(adrenaline pumping, but dangerous if you don't know what you are doing).

but i also think that 65 is just waaaaay too slow..... i vote for 80
