I think everyone should have a passion for something but at the same time yes people need to prioritize their lives. I decided to put off kids, to focus on production, to persue music for it is what I love. I did live off music for 4 years (2000-2004) and then got a day job so that I can qualify to buy a home. While DJing and producing is not my sole income I have to say that getting paid helps justify the long nights and crazy weekends. But I do enjoy what I do. That being said...I am 33 and married...if I wasn't getting paid to DJ I don't know if I could justify my weekends. But I still have that passion. I think you have to know what to focus on in your life and at what times. I don't think at my age I should be treating the scene like I was 18 year old trying to make it. At some point you have to grow up. I know I can't do this forever but at the same time...I want to see how far I can take it. I can understand where the original post make sense. Some people take the scene way to seriously...I love to spin...but I wouldn't sacrifice my family, my health or my sanity for it!!

wow this thread was truly funny but the way i see it if your a dj because the music in your heart and you love to make people dance then there is nothing wrong with persueing it as a carrer as long as you dont give up and stick to it
i personally am a dj and producer and i love what i do and hope to go world wide with it but at the same time id love to be a chef since cookin is my passion as well and to a degree i agree with this guy because alot of them just try to be posers in the scene that i have seen for myself and a majority of them have kissed major ass to even play at a crowd and then you have the Etards and others that after every rave they get temporarly influenced and want to be a dj and after a week theyll give up as far as the money goes no one makes big bucks over night being a dj if that was the case then wed all be rich and wouldnt give a dam about the music and all the while the big djs that get paid good amounts to perform dont let the money change them and keep bringin those hits to the dance floor so to anyone who wants to be a dj be one because its in you not because you want to be known |
