This post isn't for the DJ's who actually make a living doing it. It's for those of you who spend your lives and invest your time into something you receive little to no monetary compensation for.
I think it is obvious who most of you are, but I'm really very curious as to why you do it. Your track selections are rarely surprising, you demonstrate little to no talent, all the while you neglect children you have at home and bills you have to pay. Why? Is that tiny bit of fame you receive from preteen sluts and etarded ravers really worth it? You play parties thrown by crews known to be fucked up. You treat your guestlist like it's a backstage pass to a Prodigy concert. You're lucky if you even get gas money. You can't even be modest about how stupid and annoying you are. And yet you keep doing it. You continue to embarrass yourself by complaining about being at the bottom of the flyer. You kiss the ass of every promoter offering a free timeslot. You even change your musical tastes to fit what is accepted. You should take a moment to ask yourself where you're really going with your "career." Are you trying to DJ to get laid? Do you do it because you want to party for free? Do you just like seeing your dated name on a piece of glossy paper? Better yet, do you live with your parents? 4 years from now you could have made it to the upper levels of management at MacDonald's and would probably be making more money. Is it really worth it? |

ROFL at this post.
I think he is talking about the current status of 99% of DJs in the scene? Pretty hilarious... "You play parties thrown by crews known to be fucked up. You treat your guestlist like it's a backstage pass to a Prodigy concert. You're lucky if you even get gas money. You can't even be modest about how stupid and annoying you are. And yet you keep doing it. You continue to embarrass yourself by complaining about being at the bottom of the flyer. You kiss the ass of every promoter offering a free timeslot. djs are just that, disc jockeys , known for spinning other people's music LOL. You will hardly ever hear about a track made by a DJ , nor will you see a music video . Those are done by the professional artists not djs. Most djs you see at weekly parties dont have an identity outside of the party scene, so spinning records and trying to look cool by holding a crate of records is what makes them feel important. To each his own

i paint/draw and dont sell any of it. i read and write but i am no author. i obsess about physics but i'm not a scientist. i like to ride my bicycle, but i'm not practicing for a tour de france. i play footie but i'm not planning to play in the World Cup nor am i an athlete. etc. etc. etc. just so you know, people actually do things for their own enjoyment. i advise you to get a hobby. |
