1. FERRY FUCKIN CORSTEN! FUCK YOU HATERS!
2. ABOVE&BEYOND
3. ARMIN VAN BUUREN
4. ATB
5. DJ JOOP

Ferry Corsten is fucking sick! He deserves to be no.1! He's the only one I saw that had a massive chanting his name for an encore. He makes quality trance and there's nothing wrong with that. If Ferry is not top Dj then it should go to Above&Beyond hands down!

You are voting for the top 100 DJs in this poll. NOT producers. Just because someone is a good producer does not make them a good DJ. I think the last couple years this poll has been swayed the wrong way by people voting for acts based on their production work, not for their skills as a DJ.

With that said, the names mentioned here are all pretty good. I voted for mostly house acts, mostly because that's what I listen to. I think it's cool too that nowadays you can download almost any liveset from any DJ all over the world ( the internet), so even though I haven't been to europe in 3 years, I heard a lot of big sets from european festivals this year.

Can't wait for the results
agreed! also people fail to vote based on performances THIS YEAR. they vote based on some performance they saw like last year to as far as 3 years ago. the dj may be tanking out now and not deserve the spot which is why you should vote based on this years sets. otherwise the same djs will just keep winning even though they arnt performing here. maybe if people would stop voting for djs that dont even play here, it would be more incentive for those djs to start accepting some gigs in the states. i know alot of djs have an attitude about coming here (especially all the major hardstyle djs). fuck em. if they dont wanna play here, then they dont deserve our votes

i remember actually falling asleep in the bleechers at one point during his set at TAO. like full blown dreaming status and everything . when i woke up my 2 friends next to me were also asleep.

LOL...see "Armin Van Buuren".

I think in this country the quality of drugs every year is almost directly proportional to how good people rate DJs ( *cough* especially trance *cough* ), but that's a whole 'nother argument.

It's unfortunate as it's harder to get big as just a DJ now...seems like most big events are booking based on production talent more than DJ skills these days, but it's gotten better over time. As a DJ though, you have to expose yourself to new markets and fans, and it's tough when you can't just throw a song on beatport and watch as people listen and download. There is lots of talent in southern california that would kill it on a national/international stage, but because it's hard to get exposure, they're stuck doing the same gigs for years and years.

Hopefully beatport opens their mixes section soon and DJs can start getting more credit than they have been.

People take this poll WAYYY too seriously.....

But likewise, i DO agree that theres alot of lame votes. Its a popularity contest, and usually alot of votes for mainstream names and has-beens.

If you're voting for ATB simply because of some cheezy ass songs with guitar melodies that all sounded the same that he made back in 1999, please dont vote for him. its been 9 years -_-'' likewise with Darude or DJ Sammy.

Fedde le Grand was a nobody until he produced 'put your hands up for detroit' and was a new entry in 2007 and won the #22 spot.

If it was based on TECHNICAL DJs, James Zabeila and Eddie Halliwell would win every fucking year.

Its really impossible to tell who the 'best' DJ is......everyone has different tastes in music and every crowd a DJ performs for is different.

Its also kind of pointless to vote for the already bigger established names. Armin is already at the top, same with Tiesto or PVD. Ferry never had his chance yet, but thats because hes never made much of an effort to make his name a 'brand' like Tiesto or Armin have (but now thats changing with the growth of the Flashover label, his radio show, and the full on ferry parties).

I voted for Above & Beyond because they're one of the few names I feel really does take love for music more seriously over the whole 'business' and 'branding' aspect. They put alot of thought into their sets rather than just playing the same set every party like alot of other top DJs usually fall into the habit of doing (because they know everyones on their nuts no matter what they play).

Likewise, i voted for Solarstone & Mike Koglin because i really like these guys as DJs as WELL as producers. They're names I would love to see climb higher on the list.

Christopher Lawrence ive been a fan of since Day 1, and i thought it was pretty fucked up how he got disqualified last year because of his marketing manager pulling some shit and cheating to get him higher. My vote goes to re establish what i think its one of the best DJs to bridge the gap between my two favourite genres, Psy and Trance.

lastly i gotta support my favorite producer (I know, i know, STFU), Orjan Nilsen.

this is not a scientific survey, its a popularity contest. and the only way the above metrics could be voted on is if each voter saw every DJ out there. Inevitably people are going to vote that they have seem recently, heavily skewing it towards those DJs that tour the most.

You're on point with every statement you make there...

Chris Lawrence would be my #6 pick if that was possible. Even thought I'm not a huge trance fan, I still think he puts a lot of energy and thought into his sets and it shows.

I would also agree with Above & Beyond, as they do put on a great performance. They are a duo that get props from me both for production work and their live performances.

I also think though that how good a DJ you are isn't necessarily dictated by how technical someone is...you also have to read a crowd and play tracks that will put them in the right move, not necessarily do triple drops and crazy sampling. Just because someone is good technically doesn't mean they will rock every crowd they play to. I voted based on a balance of technical skill and "crowd rocker" ability, so to speak. Someone like AVB might play all the tracks that people go nuts to, but he still needs to be technically proficient to get my vote. It goes both ways, IMO.

Ill be voting for Dj Dan & Donald Glaude. They effing blew my mind with the sickest, most energetic house set ever at EDC. Ya they probably wont be top 10 material, but in my mind they should be.

And Ferry Corsten! Saw him at the Shrine and holy shiz that was the best trance set ever. Definately had the best sober time during that night =D.

DJ Dan was actually #5 in the 2006 poll (unfortunately for the 07 poll, he and Chris Lawrence shared the same jerk marketing manager and were both disqualified).

Donald Glaude was voted #69 in the 07 poll.....but the way both he and Dan handled things this past year have been INSANE, so theres no doubt Donald will climb, and Dan will take his rightful place back at a high spot on the list

For last years poll...

-Ferry Corsten #8
-Markus Schulz #13
-Eddie Halliwell #16
-Astrix #18
-ATB #26
-Menno de Jong #62

i dunno how infected mushroom got to the top playing rock ballads and rap. they gots to go. astrix deserves that spot WAY more.

about the whole popularity contest and people voting on who they saw recently, its silly because people are super close minded and miss out on all the other good djs playing here on rare occasions to go see the same repetitive overbooked people play. thats how i got into going to burner parties in the first place. im tired of seing the same trance djs booked over and over as headliners at all the parties. i wanna see some new talent. i mean fuckin bassnectar has more talent in his pinky finger then atb or armin could ever hope to have in their life time. your never going to get better when your playing generic drone music thats already pre beatmatched for you like tiesto does.

i've seen this poll manipulated so much it's not even funny. not hating.... just saying it's about how many emails, ips, etc you can fake to get yourself up the list. it's a laughable list to those of that have seen actual falseness of it.

they should make it a top ten list then you guys could have it out over ATB, Ferry and whoever else. but as it stands it's a retarded list. top 100? no. top 10 maybe that would be more accurate. it's easy to fudge into the bottom and say 'i'm in the top 100 djs in the world'... but then you ask any random party kid about 50 of the names and their like 'who?' exactly.

it's embarrassing when young djs thinks it'll make a difference to get their friends to vote for them. whereas someone like donald glaude would actually work his way up the list.

my .02 cents <- doesn't buy you shit.
