current trend at my school: raving

it is definitely the new trend at my high school. all of a sudden pretty much everyone has started wearing armloads of kandi and talking about how much they want to go to a rave. i don't have a problem with that, but it seems the majority of them all want to go for only 2 reasons - to get fucked up and get more bracelets. no joke. i ask them about who their favorite djs are and whatnot, and they reply with "i don't know but i love E so i'm gonna love raving!" or "whatever they give out neon bracelets, right?" yes, people have actually said that.

it's just strange how so quickly everyone wants to rave now. a year ago nobody knew what raves were and if they did, they would start saying how much they hated "techno".

i wonder how long this trend will last with them. BTW i have nothing against new people getting into the scene, i myself started this year but got into it because of my love for the music, not to be considered cool. it's just people who get into it for the wrong reasons that irk me.

sorry, raving happened 15 years ago.

this commercial cycle is nothing new. I came in during the last commercial boom. I would spin 80s pop mixed with club R&B remixes on vinyl then all these fuzzy furry kids showed up. They invited me to a rave. That was the era of lots of poseurs that thought trance was techno. "Yeah, I love techno" who's your favorite artist. "I just like the beat. I only know Paul Oakenfold".

someone actually said to me, "i didnt know people still go to raves" in a conceited stuck up way trying to insult me.
