i say anyone who isnt just being themselves is doing the scene a dis-service. This goes for kandi-kids who do it just because their friends do it, junglists who dress a certain way to look 'hard', whatever. I don't limit my friends based on what group they look like they belong to, that's just silly.

and sorry, but whoever said most kandi-kids have jobs is a moron. id say the majority of ravers period don't have jobs which is disapointing. Tim is right about being responsible, and that doesn't just mean being sober. Personally I've never been to a rave sober, and I don't plan to start...but you also wont see me getting hauled out for taking too many drugs and freaking out. I'll have the money to go every week if I want because I understand how important working is to keeping going. I'll do what I can to help out groups who are trying to do things right. I'll keep being myself and encouraging my friends to do the same.

heh, I must say, I find the starting comment on this thread silly. I'm seventeen, and I don't think I'm six or whatever. I would kind of consider myself a kandie kid, but then again, like any label (goth, prep, wtf ever..), it comes with an ugly image that most people try to avoid. What you're simply stating is the ugly image. Half the people on here wear kandie or trade it, but that doesn't make them posers or twenty-somethings trying to be little kids.. it just means they found something that makes them happy, and they're going with it.

I have alot to say about this topic, but not enough time.

Long story short, if I tell someone I go to a rave, Im automatically a Kandi kid, who pops E all night long, listens to loud music, and rubs up against people all night long while collecting as much "kandi" that I can. I do take offence to it sometimes, but I remember my roots. I grew up on Goa/Psy-trance, and thats what I will listen to till I die.

Kandi kids are just those kids that the scene found them, not that they found this great underground community with obscure music. When you can look at Billboard, and see that song you heard 098320498198741234 times at a rave on the top 40, something's wrong. I swear to god I heard Put Your Hands Up For Detroit atleast 7 times in 4 hours at Winterfresh. ON THE SAME GOD DAMN STAGE. I think that this is all just an acceptance thing for most people in the community. Atleast those who heavily do E and dress up like that. Hell, I saw a Kandi Kid at the arcade on a thursday night, and my friends and I (who do go to raves on occation) were all laughing so hard at her. She couldnt figure out why.

I guess what Im saying is: Kandi Kids are alright while Im fucked up. But man, when Im sober, you guys are fucking retards. Atleast Fruits got it right.

(That was more of a semi-rant on the rave scene too... I got alot to say about it, but its mostly negative)

i happen to find it fun to dress bright and colorfull for a night and for those of you with jobs ( or school )with strict dress code, i think you can all agree with me, kandi kid or not, that's it fun to go out and dress however the fuck you want and do whatever the fuck you want for a night.

I feel kandi kidz add "colour" to the rave in so many ways. They are ultra adorable if they are wearing cute clothes and don't over do it on the kandi up and down the arms. and as for the stereotypical "drug usage" amongst kandi ravers....I really don't see many who do engage in drugs. It's mostly the everyday looking individual who I see drugged up at the parties.
